Why it's important to keep a Republican out of the White House

Why the conservative disdain for unions when corporations, in a lot of ways, work the same way but for a different class of citizen?

That is the 25$ question.

We have right here, on this very day a group of people that probably don't make over 50k a year and they HATE unions. They defend the corporations right to pay them what ever the corporation wants and care nothing about being abused or mistreated in the work place. They want the right to work for less money.

They fucking freak out about the fact unions play in politics. It's like they aren't smart enough to understand that if unions DIDN'T play in politics, there would be absolutely no organized, moneyed effort to represent working class people in the political arena.

It doesn't make any sense to hate unions like they do. It must be part of the Obama Derangement Syndrome is all I can figure.

Look idjut! Conservatives are not "against unions"
We are against forcing people to join them and, for the most part, we are against public sector unions.
Public sector unions are corrupt.
The union donates money to a candidate that raises their salaries so that the unions can donate more money next cycle.
Hell! Bribery happens in business all the time. People get jail time for it, but public sector unions seem exempt from prosecution even though the bribes are payed with tax payer money.

Unions are a vital counterbalance to corporations. The right of workers to organize into collective bargaining units is essential to checking the power of the collective voice of corporations. A functioning free market cannot infringe the right of workers to organize.

I am against monopolies, in both corporations and unions. The AFL/CIO is a monopoly that should be broken up under the Sherman Anti-Trust act.

And "public unions" are a conflict of interest from the outset - I oppose blatant and open corruption.

The number one reason: Supreme Court Justice appointments. Republican appointed Justices have bought us Citizens United. That's basically had the effect of selling off our government to the highest bidder. Unhappy with your candidate? You can thank unlimited pac money. Bought to you by you Republican appointed justices.

Yup.....we're one lesbian away from gun confiscation.

Citizens United means we will never again have an open, honest election.

Sheldon Adelson will buy the R candidate and then the RW sheeples will obediently vote for him.

As to the OP, a Repub president would mean the loss of all the progress President Obama has made. All the jobs would be lost, the stock market would tank, all economic recovery would be gone and we would immediately be in several ground wars.

Simply put, we cannot afford another R prez.

Neither can the world financial systems.

So, only by silencing the opposition can elections be "open" and "honest?"

The fact is that you Communists fear honest elections above all. CU was a massive blow to your ability to silence political speech that is opposed by the party.

Hey, you're democrats, you see freedom as way to valuable to be granted to just anyone...

Ya ok,so our elected officials, that are there to represent us in a political arena are doing what?
Union pussies need help in life, that other do for themselves.

Unions are required to represent all employees of a unionized company - regardless of whether some employees chose not to join. Hence, union dues from members must also defend the rights of nonmembers. It ain't rocket science...

False - a deliberate lie on the part of your handler.

The Taft-Hartley of 1947 provides for the MANDATORY payment of dues by non-union members to support collective bargaining efforts.Taft-Hartley ended the "closed shop" provisions that were ruled unconstitutional by the SCOTUS, but in doing so stipulated that the portion of dues used for collected bargaining could be taken from non-union employees in a union shop.

Just how relevant is that ,in this day and age, union membership is nothing compared to non union workers.

So "join the union or quit" is not force in any way? LOL.

Hell no it ain't "force". You are employed in a work force that followed certain rules and guideline for organizing a union. It culminated in a vote. If the union is voted in and you feel so strongly anti union, then getting another job would be the thing to do.

Why don't you want democracy practiced in the work place? It's a simple majority wins proposition. The minority don't like it, go work somewhere else. It ain't rocket science and unions are not designed to protect the rights of the minority. So sorry.

But what the lazy republican wants is to enjoy the increased wages and benefits that come from union representation with out paying for it. Why am I not surprised.

Most democracies don't end with the minority being forced to leave the country.

Again, if Unions are teh awesome, why do people have to be forced to join them?

Unions are required to represent all employees of a unionized company - regardless of whether some employees chose not to join. Hence, union dues from members must also defend the rights of nonmembers. It ain't rocket science...

So one union always represents ALL employees in a company?

Really?

Just how relevant is that ,in this day and age, union membership is nothing compared to non union workers.

Because the Mafia has been given complete control of all unions in the nation, the concept of a union has become a farce. Instead of a guild to ensure honest wages for craftsmen, the Mob unions like the UAW are nothing more that parasites who have sucked their hosts dry. The public wants nothing to do with unions, the public sees the open criminals of the AFL/CIO and the corrupt scum of the public employee unions who bribe democrats, who in turn rape the public and give the unions open access to the public treasury. Both of these work to paint unions as the enemy of honest people. And in America, they are.

But that is because organized labor in America is corrupt, not because the concept of organized labor is faulty. We have criminals in government (the democrats) who have perverted the concepts and methods of labor organization. A union, by law, should never span beyond a single organization. And obviously workers who have no owner or corporation seeking to contain wages have no business in forming a union to steal from the tax payers. But I would like to see more legitimate unions form. As in the early days, these are value added in that they ensure the quality of labor and are a partner to business.

Couldn't agree more.

And it's not just appointments to the Supreme Court, but the Federal courts as well.

Indeed, one is not voting for president, but voting for judicial appointments.

The last thing Americans need is a republican president making judicial appointments of reactionary judges and justices hostile to privacy rights, equal protection rights, due process rights, and voting rights.
Oh, the GOP is all for privacy rights, due process rights and voting rights too. We also are for free speech, freedom OF religion and 2nd Amendment rights. It's just tough shit that your rights are not more important than mine.
Yeah, the GOP is for privacy rights, due process rights, and voting rights unless you happen to be a woman, a racial minority, poor, LGBT, or any religion besides Christianity.

Really?

In a way, the AFL/CIO runs all unions, so in that way yes.

Obviously a large organization might have steel workers, pipe fitters, plumbers, etc. - but all of those are controlled by the AFL/CIO.

You have a point, but if you have ever worked at a construction site, you know the unions can fight among themselves just as much as they fight management.
I've seen ornamental iron workers claim that placing a 4160V/480V step down transformer was their work, not the Electricians, because it had an ornamental fringe on top.

In addition to most republicans being hostile to the privacy rights of women, the equal protection rights of gay Americans, the voting rights of minorities, and the due process rights of immigrants, it's important to keep a republican out of the WH to avoid another disaster that occurred during the previous administration – two failed, illegal wars that cost the lives of thousands of American, as well as serious injury and disability to thousands more.

The republican propensity for war makes it too great a risk to vote for a republican presidential candidate; indeed, the GOP as become the War Party, calls for Israel or the United States to 'bomb' Iran is further evidence of rightwing warmongering and the neo-con lust for war.

Hey ernie, who gets "forced" into a union? Workers vote to enter into a union. If the majority wins, the union is in. The workers who are not for the union can go get another job. No force to it.

If the person applies to a union company and bitches about paying union dues, fuck em. They knew it was a union shop to begin with so don't be bitchin' after you are hired.

And you always have the right to move to a right to work for less state and make less money. Nothing stopping anyone from doing that.

And they can always work for a non union company and make less than the union worker.

So where is the force ernie?
Join the union or leave... Sounds like forced to me.

I've worked in union and non union shops. I made more than union people on the out side, because I made myself more valuable.

We're all for privacy rights of women. We also think children deserve due process.

No one wants to bomb Iran, but we are prepared to rather than allow them to obtain nuclear weapons.

When a Republican sweeps into the White House in 2016 you libs are really going to pop a gasket. lol

I'll be very surprised is there is ever another Repub president....unless they change who they nominate
I've heard this silly nonsense every year of my adult life. Yet it continues to be said despite election results....

Amazing how dense some are
