I just got this e-mail 2 minutes ago. All of the ads are going, he's overflowing with cash and yet he's still asking for money? I don't get it. Can someone please explain this to me. What does he intend to do with the money the election is over?

Uhm...it is my understanding that Pols can keep the money left over in their campaign accounts and can spend it, or donate to other campaigns, or not for profit organizations.

Here's the New York law, but I am not at all certain that its the same for other states or for Federal positions

The state Election Law is typically unspecific. Section 12-130 states: “Contributions received by a candidate or a political committee may be expended for any lawful purpose. Such funds shall not be converted by any person to a personal use which is unrelated to a political campaign or the holding of a public office or party position.”
