Illinois Thanks Trump: Balances Budget With Gas Tax Windfall From Rising Prices

Donald Trump is saving us with higher prices. Listen to the logic:

So, he's a fuckin retard too. Your point?

"Greatest economic recovery ever, gonna make America great again...winning winning winning."

-Attacks Iran
-Institutes tariffs in a globalized economy

That party shit don't play with me man.

THEY ARE ALL TREASONOUS CRIMINALS.

Well, if you are suggesting the inflation and higher prices Trump is driving isnt good for us all I'll have to reconsider. In fact, I think you are right... Trump's price spikes are hurting America and driving inflation reducing purchasing power from everyday people and making mega-corporations richer and richer. What can we do about it?

My immediate thought is that this seems odd to me. I thought gasoline taxes were a fixed cost per gallon. Thus, I would think higher gas prices would reduce travel and cut state revenue. I'll now read the OP's linked article to learn something.

A moment later.... I didn't have access to article as I didn't want to provide email. Did a jump to Google and AI provided this about Illinois gas tax:

In addition to the fixed per-gallon excise tax, Illinois is one of only a few states that applies its 6.25% general sales tax to motor fuel. When combining the fixed tax, state sales tax, and local or county/municipal taxes, Illinois drivers frequently pay among the highest gas taxes in the country, often exceeding $0.85 per gallon at the pump.

They generally are.

Gas taxes closed the budget. Trump drove prices up so that the revenue is up. What is busted? Just the fact that rising gas prices and taxes suck? Blame Donald.
As my2¢ explained, your premise is false. Illinois collects less money in gasoline tax when higher prices lead to conservation. Being taxed by the gallon means the driver pays the same tax on ten gallons of two dollar gas as on five dollar gas.

My advice is to focus on getting to first base instead of swinging for the bleachers with every pitch.

Well, who would have thought that Donald Trump would be the white knight Illinois needed to balance its budget? Illinois was able to close their entire budget shortfall with increased revenues from gas taxes due to the sky rocketing price of gas. The state owes Donald Trump a thank you for the revenue. Not only does Trump make oil companies rich he is MIGA.. Make Illinois Great Again.

SPRINGFIELD — Illinois lawmakers went into overtime and worked into the early morning Monday to send Gov. JB Pritzker a nearly $56 billion election-year state spending plan that was balanced, in part, with an anticipated windfall of sales tax revenue resulting from soaring gas prices.

Pritzker and fellow Democrats are building their November general election campaigns around the issue of affordability, blaming Republican President Donald Trump and his allies for cuts to social programs and for rising prices on necessities — most notably gasoline, which has jumped from an average of about $2.91 per gallon in Chicago to $4.82 since the Iran war began in late February.
It’s President Trump’s fault they charge nearly 50 cents per gallon on gas plus a sales tax of 6,25%?

Yes...to all of that.
Trump is killing America. Iran is killing America. We are going to be in a global depression this time next year.
What about any of this do people not/won't/can't understand? **** the stock market. The stock market, if anything is secondary gauge of inflation to commodities.
It's about the price of OIL stupids! Cheap, readily accessible energy.
If oil drifts too high, or too low it's a bad thing.

Whenever I've driven through Illinois, a stop is made in Janesville to top off the tank...Zero of my money is spent in that state, if it can possibly be avoided.

Another example of "make the rich pay their fair share" while in reality this added cost hurt the poor and middle class.
Cut the budget, stop wasteful, fraudulent, and egregious spending of taxpayer dollars then we can truly assess if the high income earners are paying their “fair share”.

When I see line items like this, I can’t take the “fair share” argument seriously:

$42 Million Johns Hopkins Research and Drive Social Change in Uganda.

-$20M for Fiscal Federalism in Nepal

-$18M for Biodiversity Conservation in Nepal

-$1.5M for Voter Confidence in Liberia

-$14M for Social Cohesion in Mali

-$2.5M for Inclusive Democracies in South Africa

-$47M for Improving Learning outcomes in Asia

-$14M for Improving Public Procurement in Serbia

-$422M for improving Political Process in Moldova

-$21M for Voter Turnout in India

-$2.3M for Strengthening Independent Voices in Cambodia

-$32M for the Prague Civil Centre

-$10M for Voluntary Circomscisions in Mozambique

-$40M to Improve the Inclusion of Sedentary Migrants

$520M for Environmental Consultation

All of that money and much more has been thrown away in wars alone.
Wars that have made us weaker on the whole.
Trump is the illusion of change, and a poor one at that.
He cuts Medicare by $800B, takes that and uses it as a tax cut for corporations and billionaires...and then starts a world economy choking war with Iran!
He is a ******* moron.
I think the problem Trump is running into is this; you can't make America great AND suck off the Jews in Israel at the same time.

Look at what the OP left out!

The budget plan will cost Illinois residents and businesses over $800 million in new taxes. It includes tax hikes on corporations, social media, and cryptocurrency.....The budget also hiked lawmaker pay by three percent.

+2

Whats the omission genius?

You can't remember what was posted one page prior?

I suppose this is why I should read the threads from the beginning.

Since those like you are so fake.

Serious or not, needed or not, a good idea or not wasn't the point.

Most gas taxes I have seen are a set amount per gallon, not a percent of the total like a sales tax

15th post
Um post number 3.
The OP says they will close their budget with Gas revenue from higher prices... what is left out? Revenue come from people buying gas in Illinois. No shit sherlock. That is the OP, its not left out. Brain work is hard I guess.

Totally left out the fact that taxes were shooting up over 800 million dollars. So its not "Trump's gas taxes" that are "balancing the budget" it's the massive taxes on corporations, etc mentioned in post 3.

Brain work requires a brain.

Its TRUMP'S PRICE INCREASES on gas that are driving taxes up. They didnt raise gas tax. They recognized that their percent times a much higher Trump price is bringing in more money. What dont you understand? Brain work is hard. Try it.
