When a pregnant woman is murdered the murder is charged for two accounts of murder,.. one for the woman and one for her unborn child. So why doesn't abortion count as murder even if the murder is the child's mother? (And or father if they tell her to get an abortion and force the idea upon her.)

My question is why should it count as murder if someone other than an abortionist kills your unborn child? What's the difference?

Because it is a politically losing proposition to run on arresting mothers for murder for having an abortion

Has any one been convicted on two counts? usually they throw the book at a person so there is less chance they get away with the crime. just curious.
