After World War 1, when the Turkish/Ottoman Empire was divided between Britain and France, it was decided that these two superpowers would enable the Arab people to achieve independence in the vast amount of land allotted to them. Much of this land also had natural wealth (oil). Like Churchill said--they were born with silver spoons in their mouths. Out of this vast territory, about 1%, or even less, was allotted to the Jewish people, considering the facts that the Jews had suffered oppression under the rule of others for 2,000 years and also that the Jews always had a special historical connection to Israel/Palestine, from where they gave the Judeo-Christian tradition to the world. At the very least, the Arab people should be able to partition and share that one tiny land with the Jews. But this is something Mr. Tinmore cannot abide.

He/she forgets that Britain actually brought a halt to any further Jewish migration to Palestine during the mandate, and they were instrumental in the MASS MURDERS of many Jews who were sent to a concentration camp on Cyprus. The first part of the quote comes from Intorduction to The Origins and Evolution of the Palestine Problem: 1917-1988 PART I 1917-1947, first line, third paragraph, and says:

"The decision on the Mandate did not take into account the wishes of the people of Palestine, despite the Covenant's requirements that "the wishes of these communities must be a principal consideration in the selection of the Mandatory".

This portion of the quote deals with the selection of which Allied Power was going to act as the Mandatory over the Mandate of Palestine. This would be in a timeframe prior to June 1922.

The second part of the quote comes from 14 Paragraph in Part I of the same document, from the caption "The Committee on the Husain-McMahon correspondence." It says:

"... contentions relating to the meaning of the phrase 'portions of Syria lying to the west of the districts of Damascus, Hama, Homs and Aleppo' have greater force than has appeared hitherto ... they agree that Palestine was included in the area claimed by the Sherif of Mecca in his letter of 14 July 1915, and that unless Palestine was excluded from that area later in the correspondence it must be regarded as having been included in the area which Great Britain was to recognize and support the independence of the Arabs.

This deals with the French and British accords on the division (Sykes-Picot Agreement of 16 May 1916). Yes, there was some understanding between Sir Henry McMahon's letter to the HM Ali bin Hussein, King of the Hejaz and Sharif of Mecca, on October 24, 1915, however, it was overtaken by events. Agreements were made. The sons of the Sharif were to become Kings. The second son of HM Ali bin Hussein, King of the Hejaz, Prince Abdullah I bin al-Hussein became King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The third son of HM Ali bin Hussein, King of the Hejaz, Prince Faisal bin Hussein bin Ali al-Hashimi became King of Iraq.

NOTE: Prince Faisal was, at first give the apportioned nation of Syria, but because of the Sykes-Picot Agreement, he was shifted to Iraq.​
