Why do you support Ukraine?

Ukraine usually is either #1 or #2 in the world for sunflower seed production....also a significant portion of Oats. Wheat has never been one of that country's strong suites but it does produce enough domestically to export some and fulfill its own needs.

Ukraine was also known for cheap uranium for feeding European nuclear reactors. There was an expose on how the radon gas was giving the miners cancer because of the low safety protocols.

But Ukraine also had a tech side too....it was THE place to build solid fuel rockets. (Which have been destroyed in the fighting) Which later developed into most of the rockets used by Russia....(can't take over the world without missiles and rockets)

Then there's the sea ports....Sevastopol has been viewed as the home of the Soviet Union's Navy. (Not Russia's)
Turkey still controls the coming and goings of Sevastopol because they can't get past through the straights without Turkey's approval....ever.

So....

If Russia loses Crimea it is a major political problem for Putin PERSONALLY....not anything else. And Putin has decided his reputation and need for power is more important than the hundreds of thousands of lives that he has destroyed.
Which is why the WHOLE WORLD has risen up against him.

Putin wants Belarus, Moldova, Poland, Turkey, Slovakia, and more....no doubt about it.
What's worse is PRChina....they are more than willing to support Putin towards Russia's destruction. It is their goal, it has been China's goal for 60+ years now. Because with Russia gone there is nothing to stop their plans of world domination. (The only other big kid on the block) with Russia out of the way and the US weakened to the point of being easily overrun....nothing else will really stop them.

So....in truth Russia needs to stop and withdraw not simply because it is wrong to manufacture the reasons to invade Ukraine. (Which they created themselves by pumping civillians, politically driven Russians into Ukraine)
But because the whole world is against them....they will be isolated and destroyed and then will no longer exist. And that is not a good thing.

Like in the other thread, brother, there’s no need to make things upabout other posters. Like you did with the Black Lives Matter topics you’re doing that in this thread. I don’t think there’s one Putin supporter in this thread.

When we look at the Russian invasion of Ukraine compared to the American invasion of Iraq, there are quite a few differences. But we can bring up some interesting points.

There’s a major point that is being overlooked especially by liberals. Why wasn’t Iraq armed by the international world when American invaded Iraq in 2003? Does it have anything to do with the Iraqis being Arab people being mostly Muslim perhaps?

Ukraine is a light authoritarian country. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see tons of statues of Zelensky all over the place in western Ukraine soon. We can also point out that Russia, nor China, nor anybody in the international world gave Iraq support in 2003. Even though people could argue that even though Saddam Hussein was authoritarian, it was the Arab people that deserve the worlds sympathy. . The Iraqi people whose homes were invaded by Americans. So that is why when you hear this moral argument by the western media about how the Ukrainian people deserve our support and money….. it only begs the question where was that media talking about the Iraqi people in 2003? Because they weren’t they were fully behind the American war effort at least initially.

And by the way I disagreed with the invasion of Iraq as well, but once it occurred I stood behind the US military and our president.

Are you a Saddam Hussein supporter if you disagreed with America’s invasion of Iraq? This is said because people can disagree with Ukraine and their government and not be a Russia or putin supporter.

One of the problems is those who say Russia is evil. That’s not appropriate, considering that throughout history so many countries have engaged in wars.

Countries throughout history have made the decision to go on a militaristic affair whether it’s an invasion or a security mission. You can recall the United States war on terrorism, which other people of the world other countries the world says is illegal. Russia says it is in Ukraine to denazify and demilitarize ukraine … but one difference in this war is that there are more of a percentage of Ukrainians that are willing to fight for Russia, more so than the amount of Iraqis that were willing to fight with for America. Think that’s only common sense. Ukraine is on the border of Russia and was a part of the Soviet Union for decades. Of course Iraq is thousands of miles away from America and while there was a huge percentage of Iraqis who were Christian something like 90% of the country was Muslim in 2003. Today most of Ukraine and most of Russia is the same orthodox Christian religion. So there’s differences in these two wars but there might be some similarities to your points.
By opposing the USA supporting Ukraie's right to independence and self determination you are supporting Putin.

Whether you're willing to admit it or not.

That’s political theater. There are valid schools of thoughts in America from diverse backgrounds that say we should not be involved in funding Ukraine.

And There’s plenty of other pressure points in the world.

Why do I have sympathy towards Ukraine?

First of all I am a Veteran of the Cold War living most of my life loathing and not trusting the damn Russians.

Second of all the Russians are the bad guys attacking the Ukrainians and destroying homes, infrastructure and killing children and civilians. Makes me sick to see it.

I know the Ukrainians are corrupt but they don't deserve what the Russians are doing to them.

Not really....
The voices that want us to not uphold our end of the treaty with Ukraine are coming from Russia to begin with....and then grow and take a life of their own.

There's a cycle to the propaganda campaigns that have been very vocal and apparent since before the start of the Covid quarantines that became even more apparent during that time as everyone focused in on them. Their whole purpose is to create division and "enemies" out of those who disagree. United we stand divided we fall.
Look at the political rhetoric in the threads....look at the absolutely horrible things they say that absolutely are not true but promoted anyway as if they were true. This crap does nothing but cause division. But that's the goal and purpose of it all.

It's similar to the "flat earth", "Blue/Black Dress" or "Lizard People" theories put out there. Things created just to cause division and separate us from treating each other with respect and dignity. Of course there are a few morons who might actually believe the outlandish crap....but nobody really does.

Truthful politicians? Really? Since when has a politician ever been fully honest? Since when has a politician ever done everything honestly and transparently? (Not in my lifetime...and according to historical records: never)

There are reasons to stop Russia from their invasion of Ukraine. There are more reasons to get Russia to fathom the many reasons its not in their interests to continue to try to annex Ukraine.

No, it's fact.

Putin has stated his goal to resurrect the Soviet empire.

Those opposing support for Ukraine are fools or Putin supporters or just opposed to anything Biden does because he's a Democrat.
Or, mostly all three.

because I hate putin and what he stands for. The guy is a fascist creep that shits on human rights, freedom and freedom of expression. I have to ask why you support him? That isn't something FDR would be ok with.
It seems with that post that your perceptive powers are not sophisticated. You call Putin a fascist but are unable to recognize that the government in Washington DC is the best example of fascism on the planet today.

How would you have felt if countries of the world supported Iraq when it was invaded by America in 2003? This is the situation at hand for the many people in Russia that support their country and who have their sons fighting in the war knowing that there are other countries of the world, who are sending money or weapons to Ukraine to be used against the Russians.

It is true that there are many problems in the world. And one can argue if we are looking at this from a moral perspective that there are even greater problems in other areas of the world compared to Ukraine. There’s warfare in Ethiopia, Yemen, Sudan. And for some years for every day women in Afghanistan have had to live as slaves you might even say the same thing for women in Iran.

You talk about a treaty with Ukraine. I’m sure that throughout history there have been treaties between two countries but then a third country invades one of those two countries and the world reacts to it. This is the situation at hand. We saw this when America invaded Iraq in 2003 some country supported the United States others did not. Now it seems that Russia today is not able to get the same type of support that America did. Although the neutrality of China and India is something to look at because there are billions of people in these two countries alone, and they are neutral toward the Russia Ukraine war.

there are countries of the world and various entities that felt that America has acted illegally in various militaristic affairs. So whatever point you bring up about a treaty can be debated.

Of course, you know that people can feel bad for Ukrainians, but also recognize the fact that some number of Ukrainians are actually pro- Russian. It’s a war where there’s good guys on both sides that’s the case in many wars of history.

Most of the soil here in the Midwest has lost 50% of it's bacteria already and it's ability to hold and retain moisture has also been compromised. Certain tree species here in the US are dying out because they are subjected to new vectors because of the changes. When I was young I knew we were zone 4 for planting now we are zone 5. You keep kidding yourself. Tornado alley has expanded and moved further east. We don't get our usual spring rains anymore, they're erratic, few and far between but when we do get them they are deluges. We recently had hail bigger than baseballs, a new state record. Completely destroyed roofs. Right, nothings changing, it's all normal. It isn't, wake up already. In 25 years or less we' ll be forced to live underground here. Look at the number of catastrophes occurring in the US yearly, see the trend in the 80's we averaged 3 a year. By 2010 it was 23 per year, and more severe 8 out 10 of the billon dollar catastrophes occurred in the last decade. .

As far as treaty promises go....we enter into treaties when it's in our best interests to do so. And if we falter on keeping our promises then it's much more difficult to get anymore and our current alliances become into doubt. We pressured Ukraine to give up their nuclear weapons and arms. That's the whole reason why Russia has invaded....because of the profit. They played a long game of taking their resources. And they thought it would work. They didn't have a Proliferation of any sort of defensive weaponry right down to the civillian level. And it's paid off for Russia in spades....up to a point.

The world needs Russia intact as a nation. But it is on the verge of not being one anymore. It is not going to get away with annexing Ukraine. The WHOLE WORLD won't let it happen.

I do not support Ukraine.

They do nothing for us, serve us no purpose, have taken billions of dollars from us with absolutely no plan on paying it and spent the last several decades known around the world as one of the most corrupt countries in the world.

Why should we support them? And why is it always our responsibility? And why should America support them during a time where our own economy is in dire straits at the sacrifice of our own citizens?

Over 3/4's of the world's people are sympathetic to Russia, China, and the Brics.
(that's anti-America propaganda that will grow hair on the palms of your hands if you believe it.)

75% of the world's population is not. That's a flat out lie. In fact just the opposite is true.

That's your US propaganda standing up against anti-US propaganda.

Somebody needs to do a count that can establish the truth.
