Yes, Appeasement was a failed policy. But on teh other hand, being overly entangled can drag you into war after war too.

When there is no clear path to your side achieving it's goals, and the war is killing your people and ruining a nation, it is time to negotiate a deal.
We’ve been “entangled” in Europe since the end of WW2. No wars until now, a good record considering the almost unending wars of the previous centuries. Involvement doesn’t lead to war; insularism does.
Drawing a line stating that an invasion of west germany, by the soviet union would lead to WWIII, made sense.
Such a move would have tilted the global balance of power to the communist Soviet Union which would have been very bad for America and the human race.
Drawing a line stating that a russian invasion of ESTONIA, would lead to WWIII, was retarded.
Russia taking Estonia, would mean nothing to the global balance of power.
That’s wrong, because dictators don’t stop, when they get what they want. What’s next, Helsinki, Finland, Warsaw, Poland, Sitka, Alaska? They were all part of the Russian Empire that Putin wants to reconstitute.

THe basis for that, was that West Germany was crucial to the global balance of power. YOU made that argument when you cited that history to support your currect position.
That argument is a dumb argument, because neither Estonia, nor Ukraine, even if successfully conquered by Russia, would make Russia a threat to the global balance of power.

THe idea for NATO was NOT that once the soviets started rolling that they would never stop. THe justification was that taking West German would allow them to dominate the rest of Europe and thus the world.
Takign Ukraine, does not allow Russia to do that. Even if Ukraine was conquered and magically...assimilated back into Mother Russia,
Russia would not be able to dominate the rest fo Europe. Europe is too big, for modern Russia to dominate.
So. Do you have a new justification for your support of the war, or do you want to be honest and give me your REAL REASON for supporting the war?

Mostly. I think there is also some simple PARTISAN ZEALOTRY here. Trump is for PEACE so the left reflexively opposes him, willing to see people die, if it means that they can oppose Trump, or God Forbid, deny him a win.
I think some of these lefties would rather see a NUCLEAR WAR than let Trump get a nobel peace prize.
