They always confuse regulation with control, or assume public utilities and transportation equate with socialism.
To the extent that they supplant private businesses and services, public utilities are examples of limited socialism. Police and military are not. In any case, the OP is essentially saying, "We have some socialism, so we should have more". But it doesn't say why.
I essentially agree. In NYC the power and gas are privately owned, just heavily regulated. Only water and sewer is government run.
And to me I wonder if you want a private company owning 8 Reservoirs and having control over a water supply. Private water companies make more sense with well/groundwater systems.
