Zone1 Why are so many mods suddenly no longer mods?

When forums are failing and even crashing some members try to help save them by offering help in some way often gets ignored and the forum eventually vanishes, I actually tried to BUY a once large forum (Several members were thrilled about it) when the owner was incompetent as the previous one who didn't keep it updated and wasn't doing anything to keep it running but the owner shuts it down after he caused a 25% reduction in traffic because he simply didn't give a shit a forum that was once one of the larger conservative forums on the internet destroyed by two consecutive bad owners who rebuffed offers to help.

It was the owners every single time who destroyed the forum I tried to help save by their neglect and simply shuts it down without giving it to someone else.

In my experience conservative forums implode and end up with a small group of like minded individuals that pretend to allow anyone to join, but immediately attempted to shout down any outside thought. Then the bordem sets in and the traffic goes down, then more boredum. It has happened to 3 I am aware of. I have never seen that on an uber liberal forums, but I can't hang out on them much, and there are just not many lib forums out there.

A lot of those years old squabbles are still online. It's kind of funny to read em.

I think people take this stuff too seriously.

I could see if there was actually a stated goal or web site mission statement. Something that infers some sort of intent or focus on synergy or purpose.

But that's simply not the case.

I get it, though. Some folks want to feel like they're a part of something. To be included in some way with how things work and go down. But with certain personality types it ends up just doing more harm than good in the long run.

In places like this and others of similar nature, people have way, way more influence as a regular dolt than as a maude, in my view.

Well that's certainly true, but why is it whining when they complain on their own terms about how things are run but it's constructive criticism or some kind of heroic endeavor or whatever when you complain about what you feel on your own terms are poorly run web sites?

It's a poor choice of language, really. But it can and often is reflective of one's general attitude and personality toward other people. So then thats useful as a casual observer when you're like...you know...watching people interact out in the wild of the www from a sniping position. But it's still bad juju, man.

Anyway. You're right in that there should be an active admin. Not to infer the foolish notion of giving an existing maude admin control, though. Personally I don't even think that maudes should be deciding on who maudes. That's an owner/admin's job. Otherwise you get what we had here recently for a short time with regard to having to break out the weed whacker from the trenches to thin out the bad seedlings being casually dropped from previously mentioned rotten fruit from previously mentioned bad tree. Because that's the only way the bad crop is ever gonna get thinned out. After all, why would a planter cut down its own spawn? Duh.

Of course, there's the flip side to the entire fair.

Which is this whole site is just someone's attempt at venture capitalism. There's a few different so-called sister sites out there, I think. Perhaps also useful as a honeypot of sort to interested/involved parties looking for weirdos they think might go shooting people and stuff up.

Other than that, what's really being accomplished here? Or any place else of similar function for that matter?

But I am NOT the one making all those complaints that moderators have to put up with every day.

I don't start a thread to complain about a moderation decision in public or complain about a thread being moved or complain about Zone and rules or...... and it happens again and again and again and again and again for several years and had been answered over and over and over and over and over by Mods who tire of the complaining bullshit now they just take the abuse in silence and sometimes close the threads to shut it down.

I go the PM route to discuss it but only done it about 5 times the last one was November 15 2022 and FlaCalTenn starts a few PMs with me all of the PM's with Moderators are cordial and respectful.
