Why Are So Many Democratic Politicians So Far Out of Touch? - New York Times

Well, the fact remains that the topic is not really important. If I was a representative of the Democratic Party, I would ignore the topic altogether. It is not worth taking a position on either side. If you take a position for transgender, you will lose votes of those against transgender people and if you take a position against transgender, you will lose votes of the transgender people. So what is the benefit of taking any position?

If you have no position, you don't lose any votes!!!!!

It is a lose, lose position if you voice an opinion, so why do it?
Maybe because laws against transgenders tells US more about ourselves and who we choose to discriminate against. Doing the right thing is isn't always easy. People come up with all kinds of excuses not to do it.

If it's not a factor in people's lives then it's easy to be against it.
???? what is the problem with your thinking?

Taking a position on anything is more of a potential problem than not having a position on it, especially if it isn't something that affects you personally. That is PURE common sense.

By the way, you did not answer my question. Why?

Somebody needed to step up to delusional thinking like that.

There are too many issues that are more important to Americans than this issue. We all have limits on what we fight for and as such, we should always spend the time on those, especially since they affect us.

If I had to choose, I would not want transgender men competing with women. Nonetheless, I have no interest in spending any time discussing that issue. I have many more issues I have to deal with that are important to me.

In addition, it also is not an issue that affects 99% of Americans, why should anyone (other than the people it actually affects) have deal with it?

Choosing to discriminate should NEVER happen in America. We are better than that.

I am not sure if you are talking about me but everyone of us has some delusional thinking. We are humans and not perfect (we are all fallible to a certain extent).

I agree, but choosing to not take a side on an unimportant minor issue does not hurt anything.

Then again, the act of discrimination is a major issue, so "that topic" should be addressed!

I mean, the thread IS about democrats after all. They are the ones we should worry about, they're way out there.
You honestly never thought trump was acting crazy. He's about as far out there as you can get and since he's suppose to be president for ALL Americans that makes it the most dangerous situation we have.

Discrimination always hurts somebody. Try telling a transgender person it's a minor issue. It isn't to them. The good vernment is interfering with their basic right to pursue happiness. May not be your idea of happiness , isn't mine either. But it is their right.
