I truly did not want to make you look like an idiot, but you have forced my hand
Your article about tariffs from Mexico does not apply to the U.S. Those tariffs are for other countries
We have had a free trade agreement with Mexico for many years. It was originally NAFTA but when Trump was president, he changed it to USMCA. since 2020
Mexico is part of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), a free trade agreement that went into effect on July 1, 2020. The USMCA replaced the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which was signed in 1994.
The free trade agreement was to specifically done for this: U.S. exporters are encouraged to carefully examine the list of impacted products and be aware of the opportunity to take advantage of the USMCA special compliance and tariff treatment to see potential exports to Mexico.
On a general note though, tariffs are often necessary but each administration has to examine the pros and cons of doing them and to what degree. In 2017 the tariffs that the U.S. put on China cost us more than whatever benefits it brought. Wee the citizens paid more, many of our companies (like Agriculture suffered big losses) and the costs were higher than the profits.
These tariffs are being done more for revenge than for benefit to us (almost all analysts agree and the WSJ said it was the most stupid move ever mad).
On thing you constantly ignore and that is that Trump is incompetent (does not know what he is doing) and he does not listen to anyone so as a administration (group of people) they can all come up with a good plan. Things that are done that way are almost always going to end up a failure. You refuse to see what is staring you in the fac.
