Why are MAGA Republicans trying to neuter the judiciary?

‘After yet another federal judge stopped the Musk/Trump onslaught by temporarily blocking Musk and his team from accessing Americans’ records from Treasury Department computers, MAGA Republicans attacked judges. “Outrageous,” Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) posted, spreading the lie that the judge barred the Secretary of the Treasury from accessing the information, although in fact he temporarily barred Treasury Secretary Bessent from granting access to others. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) said the decision had “the feel of…a judicial” coup. Right-wing legal scholar Adrian Vermeule called it “[j]udicial interference with legitimate acts of state.”

Vice President J.D. Vance, who would take over the office of the presidency if the 78-year-old Trump can no longer perform the duties of the office, posted: “Judges aren’t allowed to control the executive’s legitimate power.”

As legal scholar Steve Vladeck noted: “Just to say the quiet part out loud, the point of having unelected judges in a democracy is so that whether acts of state are ‘legitimate’ can be decided by someone other than the people who are undertaking them. Vermeule knows this, of course. So does Vance.” Of Vance’s statement, Aaron Rupar of Public Notice added: “this is the sort of thing you post when you’re ramping up to defying lawful court orders.”’

The fascist Trump regime is a criminal administration exhibiting overt contempt for the rule of law and the Constitution – a criminal administration ready to defy lawful court orders to advance its despotic, authoritarian agenda
Your thread headline assumes a contrary to fact hypothesis.

It isn’t “neutering” the courts to demand that they abide by the Constitution.

The legislatures (not the courts) determine what the legal punishments for crimes are.
I see simpleton Sage disagrees with me.

How is what I said “fake news,” sage?

The LAW sets what the punishments are for crimes. That’s determined by the legislature. It’s simply a fact.

If you need examples, just ask.

The Gavel Used as a Cattle-Prod

Who gave themselves the final say on what "cruel and unusual" means?
The interpretation of an allegedly ambiguous term in the Constitution most often falls to the judicial branch.

So what?

How does your “question” address the topic or the discussion?

You don't understand that "Fake News" also implies that you think a sheltered clique of state legislators has a superior right to tell us that we must have compassion for these enemies of the majority. The state beltways' conceit implies their contempt. They've turned these humanoids loose on us because they think that what we want done to them is cruel, unusual, and deplorable.

You ignore the fact that the SCROTUS scum have a self-appointed control over them. I'll add to that the real news— the state oligarchies also couldn't care less about crime victims.

In reality, by their actions, they are trying to neuter themselves.

Because law and order is the furthest thing from their minds.

They want the chaos, because it helps w/their corruption and theft.

As we're all witnessing before our very eyes.

You are merely babbling and hyperventilating. I don’t mind that you harbor such silly views. The problem is, you can’t and don’t support them.
