Why are gas prices still so expensive?

I have acknowledged the ridiculous Gas Tax Increase in WA. I'm not happy, but I can't run from the TAXES.
Now, FO Candy Ass and take that NAP.
Oh, now you're trying to impress us all with your stellar vocabulary. LOL, you're triggered again, moron. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Clearly there are no psychological standards when applying for a teaching job in WA either. BTW, continually voting for the idiots who tax you is taxing yourself. No need to run when you are the enemy Winnie.

Gas prices are a reflection of increased or decreased demand or supply, nothing else.

Trump oversaw a crash in demand due to Covid so prices went down. Trump then pushed OPEC to cut production in 2020 by more barrels than we could ever increase so prices went up. Then Biden reopened the economy Trump shut down and we got a high demand against the low supply. This drove up prices more. Over time the oil industry got output to record levels and now we have $3 gas again. $3 is historically the price of gas adjusted for inflation.

Trump has done nothing but screw up oil and gas.

Biden signed E.O. 13990 his 1st day in office setting the stage for the highest fuel prices ever in America. That went on for 4 years, and they almost completely drained the Strategic Reserves to artificially keep the prices down.
Pipe down, you ******* shitbird. :eusa_hand:

Hi. I live in Hammond, Indiana. Hammond is in northwestern Indiana, located riiiiiight next to thee southside of Chicago..

Gas prices here in Hammond are usually about $3.29 a gallon.. and it’s been that way since like January 2024..

(I believe..)

(IIRC.)

Thee most expensive gas price I saw today here in Hammond was $3.49 per gallon for regular unleaded gas at a Shell. Thee cheapest I saw today was $3.11 per gallon..

(The local Nice n’ Easy gas station always has thee cheapest gasoline prices in Hammond..)

If I cross the border into Illinois/Chicago though, I can expect to see plenty of gas prices at $3.49/$3.59/$3.69 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel though.

Anyways, I read that the gas prices got expensive above $3 a gallon in January 2021 in Indiana because Joe Biden and the democrats like to ship gasoline/oil by BNSF train to support Warren Buffet, instead of using oil pipelines..

(If that’s true, why have thee gasoline prices not fallen under Trump?)

The price of oil per barrel fell to about $57 in May 2025, but still, there was no drop in gasoline prices here in thee Chicagoland area when that happened..

Anyways, what’s up with the somewhat/kinda expensive gas prices in USA/Chicagoland area?

Do you think the war in Ukraine is causing gas prices to be above $3 a gallon in a lot of places?

I remember in 2022, Saudi Arabia cut/reduced thee amount of oil they were exporting to USA, because they didn’t like how Joe Biden was exasperating/intensifying the war in Ukraine, and putting all these sanctions on Russia. Anyone know if that Saudi Arabia oil cut is still in effect? Think that’s why gasoline prices are still so pricey-ish?

I believe the keystone pipeline was still being used under Biden’s term, but an extension to it wasn’t built? Anyone know if the keystone pipeline is being used under Trump at all, and if he plans to build thee extension on it? Anyone know how much of an effect that all has on the gas prices?

Well alright. Donald Trump vowed he would lower the gasoline prices if he became president, but he has failed to do so..

Anyone know why? Anyone know what’s up with that..?

Jw.
Tax on petroleum products definitely contribute to the higher price of ALL petroleum based products ESPECIALLY PUMP GASOLINE/DIESEL. In the state of Washington we are paying a hefty tax(3rd highest state in the nation).

And the supply part is what Joe screwed with. Oil does not handle any interference well. If we are transporting oil by trains that is not as efficient as a pipeline as an example. Gasoline prices need to drop.

you clearly failed to educate anyone else in WA during your career at the public trough.

Topic, Winnie. Please stick to it. I know it's rough for someone with such a limited attention span. Now why did you vote for people that increased your fuel taxes? Hmmm, you're probably responsible for Jayapal too.
This is YOU going off Topic.
