Why are conservatives clueless about our Constitution?

Another example of Conservatives refusing to compromise is the Grover Norquist "No new taxes" pledge

100% adherence or else there is a political price to pay

Bring the country to war? No new taxes
National disaster? No new taxes
Balance the budget? Do it with no new taxes

Zero room for compromise no matter how important it is to the American people

Conservatives wrap themselves in the Constitution and act like they are the only ones concerned with the founders principles in crafting this great document

The key component of our Constitution that Conservatives have declared war on is the idea of compromise. Our founders created a form of governent that was built on the assumption that there would be compromise. Congressmen and Senators must compromise with each other to craft a bill and get it passed....

I will give you this if you will give me that

That is how our government has functioned for hundreds of years. Instead, Conservatives have instituted a policy of....If I don't get my way, nothing will get done

That attitude is an insult to our founders who formed our very government out of compromise

You have it backwards. It's the democrats who won't compromise. Obama said it best when he told the GOP that he won the election and they lost, and that they had to take a back seat.

Somehow Republicans thought they could still call the shots even though they had been soundly beaten

Republicans were still in a position to get what they wanted in the Stimulus (more tax cuts and more state control) and in Obamacare (again tax incentives, tort reform and interstate insurance sales)

But again, Republicans insisted on calling all the shots or nothing....they ended up with nothing
And yet the poor state of the economy is due to Republicans blocking everything.
How to explain that one after Democrats got everything they wanted?

No numbskull, the poor state of the economy is due to the poor policies of the president and the senate which lengthened the economic woes caused by the collapse of the housing market. The same collapse that the GOP warned the democrat led house and senate, but was ignored.

Lets see?

The Stimulus that was loaded with tax cuts
Obamacare which abandoned universal coverage and a public option
The Bush tax cuts that were preserved for thosee making under $400,000

Yeah democrats have mastered compromisin with themselves.

Democrats filled their bills with options to appeal to Republicans....tax cuts, the GOP health bill from 92, individual mandate

100% of Republicans voted no

I don't think you understand what the word compromise means. Here's a hint: it doesn't mean telling the other side what their opinions are and then agreeing with them.

They were Republican ideas until they were supported by Obama

Republicans have taken a position that anything Obama supports, they will oppose out of principle. Even their own ideas
Bush proposes TARP....Republicans AND Democrats supported it for the good of the country
Obama proposes additional TARP and EVERY Republican votes against it

That is what constitutes compromise for Republicans

TARP didn't include a Keynesian stimulus and the American Recovery Act did

TARP did not include stimulus
The stimulus bill did

Two seperate bills....both with 100% Republican opposition

Answer the question: Why did Republicans vote for TARP when Bush needs it and be 100% opposed when Obama needs it?

you leftards are the best example of "my way or the highway", when has your side ever compromised on anything concerning the Constitution.., the Second Amdt. is the best example of failing to compromise.

AND COMPROMISE THIS ......., :fu: .......................... :asshole:
didn't take long for the 1st clingertard response. All I can say is thangod "that one" is one of theirs

As to the OP, Repubs like Boehner (R) only care about preserving their taxpayer-funded "jobs" and the associated perqs. Passing legislation, that has even a chance to get signed into law? Not so much.
yea like Democrats are different....right Dottie?...

^ that

it would be comical if the consequences of their obstruction, for short-term political gain from their zany base, weren't so tragic

i love the way its always the other side is this or that.......both parties suck, both parties have assholes in them, both parties are ******* this Country up.....someday you party people will realize that......

Horseshit. The Constitution was founded on the ideas of limited government and individual rights.
Far from it

The Constitution was founded on the idea of "Right sized government" as decided by the voters

Limited government has nothing to do with size.

Hardly, but you win the prize for the nastiest, most odious knuckle-dragging troglidyte fuckface in all of USMB, hands-down. Congratulations for showing us how ugly RWNJ ignorance can be.

Tsk tsk, name calling is all you've got. After your glorious troll thread you are worthless here.

Sez the worthless fake Rabbi idiot fuckwad who calls the President a "Head N..... in Chief" and tells people to go ****-off.

Take your own advice, you sorry piece of human flesh.
Aww, panties in a wad because everyone knows what an ignorant worthless ****** you are after your troll thread? Too bad, eat it.

Oh, you poor thing. You are, however, an excellent playtoy.

Obamacare would be a fundamental wrong as a conservative. The idea of "national" health care and government control would be anathema to conservatives.

Its like if we could repeal abortion, what would the democrats accept as "reasonable" when discussing it?

Mark

Conservatives have initiated a mandate that if they don't get to call the shots....then nobody has

They have fractured their own party where even Republicans cannot agree or compromise
They have raised the stakes to the Government as a whole that they prefer nothing be done at all than something that may help the other side
Harry Reid is a conservative? Who knew?
Reid is perfectly willing to compromise

Republicans have intitiated 100% filibuster on all bills. 60 votes or the bill goes nowhere. If Republicans are willing to allow Democratic bills to come to the floor with less than 60 votes, then Reid will allow Republican bills to come up for a vote

What say you Republicans? Are you willing to compromise with Reid?
Bullshit. Every word.
You need to get out more, Nutsucker. The voices are getting to you.
How bout it Rabbi?

If Reid sends EVERY Republican bill to the floor for a vote, are you willing to have EVERY Democratic bill come up for a vote?

Simple yes or no will suffice

I suspect it is time for the Rabbi shuffle though

As expected...Rabbi runs away

How bout you other Conservatives?
Are you willing to let Democratic bills come up for a vote if Reid allows Republican bills to come up for a vote?

Its called compromise

It appears the DNC is cranking out talking point emails to the operatives today.

He ran away AGAIN?!?!?!? Well, it is almost 11 am EST, so maybe he needs his midday nappy-time.

Poor little coward.

That is why there was no universal healthcare or Government option in the bill

Why would conservatives oppose health exchanges? They were a key part of the Heritage proposed healthcare and Romney care

Yet when Obama proposes health exchanges, conservatives are outraged

The left must be desperate. Now they wrap themselves in the Constitution and claim if republicans don't cave in to the democrat party's socialist agenda they are violating the principles of the Founding Fathers. You almost gotta laugh.

Go for it. I'm a pro-life Leftie. I don't like abortion at all. Only the most extreme cases of imminent death to the mother or signs that the fetus has already died can I accept abortion as a necessary procedure.

Why would you think the concept of compromise is not key to our Constitutional framework?

Can you envision any way our Constitutional form of government can work without compromise?
