There is some innuendo going around--nobody is saying it outright but there are hints--on Fox et al--that there could be more than just another crazed nutjob. Some say the Trump campaign had asked for more security and were refused. A couple of people interviewed at the rally say they saw the guy on the roof and the rifle and told the Secret Service and were ignored. The implications of course are an inside job. It does seem odd that the Secret Service would not have checked out those perimeter positions. I thought that was simply routine?

I am not going to speculate without more information--I resist being a conspiracy theorist especially when that would be entirely irresponsible--but I pick up on these things.

And I honestly hope this kind of speculation is totally unfounded.

For instance, when Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in 1914, the first attempt missed, and the Archduke was shuffled to safety. Then he insisted on visiting the hospital where people were being treated, got caught up in a traffic jam, and the assassin, who happened to be sitting in a cafe, saw his opportunity and shot him.

The reality is, with hundreds of millions of guns and millions of crazy people, I'm actually surprised this doesn't happen a lot more often.
