Liberal educators know full well that including religion in the curriculum is certainly allowed under the Constitution.
If it is taught in an academic or neutral way.
They cant teach it as truth, because that would be endorsing a religion. Which violates the constitution. Public schools are a government actor.

Teaching religion does make it a law.

Teaching religion doesn't establish it as the lawful religion of the land. If Congress mandated the teaching of religion, it would be a violation of the 1st Amendment. School boards are free to include religion in the curriculum.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Teaching religion as an academic subject is OK. Teaching only one religion is not OK.

Only Congress can violate the Constitution is this regard. The states are free to establish a religion, however. Many statehouses have Bible verses inscribed on and within their buildings.

So a state can make a law barring certain religions?
