I don't assume the outcome, but I prefer that the treasury not take the risk. Why do you assume a jury would award them hundreds of millions?
That’s nothing. On other media as well, but this one is not behind a paywall. The Trump run DOJ has awarded Trump a $1.8Bn settlement fund as part of his dropping his case against the US Government.

The United States Department of Justice announced on Monday that acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche (pictured) created "The Anti-Weaponization Fund," which will receive $1.8 billion from the judgment fund to "provide a systematic process to hear and redress claims of others who suffered weaponization and lawfare." The establishment of the fund was part of US President Donald Trump's settlement agreement to drop his $10 billion lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
The fund will be authorized to issue formal apologies and provide financial compensation to claimants, with any remaining funds after the program ends reverting to the federal government. Filing a claim will be voluntary, with no partisan criteria required for eligibility, and the fund will also submit quarterly reports to the attorney general detailing recipients and the type of relief granted. It will also be subject to audits at the attorney general's direction.
Yup, Europeans don't seem able to grasp that the IRS is duty bound to protect that info and domestic democrats seem to think they have the right to see everyone else's tax records---but heaven forbid anyone suggest that theirs be perused. SMH, where do these people come from?In my country, it's a crime for the IRS to leak citizens' tax returns to the media and the public.
I'm not sure how it is in France where you live, but this is the penalty for the crime here.
Haha, you liar.I don't assume the outcome, but I prefer that the treasury not take the risk.
It’s very costly to “not take the risk”, especially when there’s no reason to believe any of the defendants would win a case let alone get 9 figure payouts.I don't assume the outcome, but I prefer that the treasury not take the risk.
And?Review section III of the settlement. I guess you chose not to read that. You obviously did not read section V, Limitations on Claims. Typical troll behavior.
Section III Relief and Legal Authority (A.)
Trump and named plaintiffs will receive an apology from the US but will not receive any payment or damages of any kind.
Well, that's your expert legal opinion, I suppose. It’s very costly to “not take the risk”, especially when there’s no reason to believe any of the defendants would win a case let alone get 9 figure payouts.
