The fifth biggest economy in the world...sure...why would you want to keep them in the US?

California should operate like Texas, as its own state first, and then all the states working together as a union.
You don't need to secede to do that, just agree to reorganize revenue and taxes through the State or possible
through the party system so citizens who want to remain connected nationally can do so, and not interfere
with people who want to fund their own programs and deduct more taxes federally to invest locally instead.

Again, that does not require secession, just investing more revenue in local business and deducting from taxes.
Or passing a tax reform policy that allows taxpayers to fund programs through their party that aren't passed nationally.

But be patient. She'll need a week or two to get in contact with reality.....
I think left and right can both agree on States Rights issues here.
Texas also does not agree with mandates on health care and now marriage or other LGBT policy pushed through federal govt when these are faith based issues.

Why not devise a tax reform plan where taxpayers can choose to fund their health care or social policies
through their State, allocate their federal share of taxes proportionally, then go through their parties
to vote on and manage the terms of their benefits, so there is "no taxation without representation."

Both left and right might actually agree on this concept, at last!

Not to mention the fact that more U.S. taxes are collected in the U.S. then any other state in the union... Federal tax revenue by state - Wikipedia

Now convert those revenue numbers by state and break it down on a per person basis. You will find that California is actually just slightly less than the average for all states. Next add back in the federal money that flows back into California and you will see them drop even lower than the middle of the pack as they nearly lead the states in Federally funded welfare payments.

California sucks overall and I've got over a decade of dealing with that state in business to say that. It's a bullshit state with lots of bullshit laws. It's got the distinction for having 3 of the top 5 municipality bankruptcies in the country.

The people and especially their politicians there couldn't find their ass with both hands in a mirrored room.

I'm sure China would love to start seizing land as collateral on bad debts.

Just be sure to declare all "illegal aliens" residents of California before cutting them loose.

Because their socialism is taking all that out of the rest of the US

That's one slice of the discussion. My point wasn't on Federal tax revenue only. California is doing nothing but endorsing every socialist Democrat for President, sending socialists to the Senate and mostly sending socialists to the House. Tax and spending is why our economy can't get started. We'd be better off without them
