Before making the claim that there were civil war era people receiving benefits they didn't even look at who was receiving payments.

The number of 100+ year olds in the country (Trump Administration 2020 Cencus was low 90,000's), and that the number of benefit payments in December 2024 was 89,106. Which matched very well the number of people eligible or was even low. Remember not eveyone 100+ even qualified for SS because they may not have worked the required quarters or receive retirement from a job NOT covered by Social Security.

Social Security stopped payments to my wife as soon as the funeral parlor issued the death certificate.
I even called them to make sure that they wouldn't be sending any more payments.

But if the deceased spouses rate is lower then the surviving spouse - benefits stop.

If the deceased spouses rate is higher then the surviving spouse - benefits are adjusted to the higher rate.

Every country has problems. Right now, we have a housing problem because we stopped building housing for 2 years, but people kept arriving. A seniors housing project in my town which was announced before the pandemic, has yet to be built, yet you can't find an apartment here, even a studio, for less than $1000 a month.

Rental housing is non-existent, and house prices are through the roof. The federal Liberals offered all kinds of money for housing, but Doug Ford said housing was a provincial matter and the feds weren't going to tell him how to build housing. Translation - he couldn't get a cut of the funds. Ford got caught selling out the water supply for the GTA to his favourite builders, and since then, nothing has been built except single family dwellings.

But Ford has a 5 year mandate, and he is too stupid and corrupt to get anything done. So what would you suggest I do about it?
