Who Here Has Had Enough of the Two Party System?

Is it time to ditch the two party system?

  • Yes. The two-party pissing match is destroying the country.

  • No. The two party system is good for America.

  • It's different when my side does it!

Results are only viewable after voting.
No. I would want a constitutional amendment banning both political parties, and political lobbying.
I think that's overkill. We can't ban people from communicating with their reps, and shouldn't. And people have a right to join together to promote causes they believe in. The problem is the systemic support for the two parties, keeping them entrenched as our only options.

You are missing my point. By banning lobbying, I mean banning foreign lobbyists from influencing our elections and banning corporations from buying votes.

So, that proves my point, not yours.
goes to the popularity of parties, not to a systemic problem. Candidates from the Green party do not get elected because their policies suck. Same with Socialists, Libertarian ....

Two party fans love to tell themselves that. Your party is entrenched and powerful because it's the best!

Not proposing any solutions here. Just trying to get a feel for where are.

You left out a word or two.

$37 trillion in debt doesn't suck?

I just don't think there's any way to sort that out. As long as government has the power to make or break a business, or other powerful interests - that business will find a way to influence the government's decision.

Exactly. It means you have no core beliefs.

I have a core belief we need to pay our debts and not leave it to others to deal with. Both parties run us further and further into debt and not supporting that makes me an anarchist? Lol

One country known for its democracy, Switzerland, has over 20 political parties for 9 million people. America, with 330 million citizens and about 50 million illegal immigrants has two. It is by design so the plutocracy can control the two parties (that often function like a uniparty) with its money through the political establishment. If there were 20 parties America would have a government that represents the people instead of the plutocracy.

That is not true. How many parties were listed on your presidential ballot last November?

This will never change until people can vote for a third party without fearing that they are throwing their vote away

Ranked voting could change that

Along with public financing of elections

But neither will ever happen

Ranked voting has already proven itself to be a disaster in every place it has been tried. :abgg2q.jpg:

As long as a person votes their conscience rather than vote out of spite, their vote is never wasted.

It's the urge to poke the other party in eye that has given us two of the shittiest and least qualified Presidents ever... Trump and Biden.
Pardon me, but your TDS is showing! We are much better off 7 months under Trump than we ever were under Sleepy Joe!

I maintain that had the people who held their nose and voted for Hillary because they couldn't bring themselves to vote for Trump, and the people who had held their nose and voted for Trump because they couldn't bring themselves to vote for Hillary had all voted for a third candidate, the system would have been shaken to its core and things would be well on their way to changing. Same goes for the last election. But it's far to important to the partisan hacks to be the "winner" and stick it to the other guy.

Country second, party first...
During the last election, people could no longer hold their nose for Democrats and voted for Trump because voting for Kamala was committing suicide.
