Temple Mount Update | Rabbi 'Akiva's Laughter

Just two days before the fast of the 9th of Av, commemorating the destruction of the first and second Holy Temple, and hundreds and hundreds of Jews are ascending the Temple Mount, where they are praying for Israel's total victory over her enemies, the return of all the hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, and a great victory over Hezbollah and Iran to the north, who are both preparing for an imminent attack on Israel. May this Tish'a bAv be a day of victory and deliverance, and "joy and happiness” in the words of the prophet Zecharia (8:19).

Rabbinate orders soldiers not to fast on Tish'ah BAv

Rabbi Shim'on ben-Yohay taught: a parable of a father hitting his son, and the son doesn't know what he's being hit for. After hitting him said to him: go do what I've ordered you days ago, and you didn't take care of me. Thus were all those who feel in wars in the days of David, didn't fall but for not demanding the building of the Temple."

-Midrash Tehilim 17

When the entire Left-Islamist axis and media frame an elected politician
as the most dangerous figure "to Middle East...peace",

what does it say about his political potential?

Recent investigation by 'Kikar Shabbat', reveals a tidal shift among Rabbinic elders,
revealing a new list of Rabbis, judges and elderly community leaders who chose
to ascend the Temple Mount this year, following passionate youth.

The Office of the Minister of National Security: 'The policy of the Minister of National Security is to allow freedom of worship for Jews everywhere, including the Temple Mount, and Jews will continue to do so in the future as well.

When Yair Lapid ascended the Temple Mount
It's quite telling that something as simple as Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount can trigger such international uproar, especially from those who claim to uphold freedom of worship. The American campaign against Religious-Zionist leaders like Ben-Gvir and Smotrich isn't just about foreign policy—it's an attempt to paint any assertion of Jewish rights as radical. But let's not forget that these rights are rooted in history, law, and basic moral principles.

Yair Lapid, despite his current political stance, which often distances itself from religious Zionism, once stood proudly with his father Joseph Lapid (at the time chairman of the 'Shinui' secular-liberal party) and his other brother on the very ground that Religious Zionists seek to reclaim as central to Jewish life. The act of ascending the Temple Mount, as seen in the actions of MK Ben-Gvir, isn’t a break from tradition but a continuation of it.

For many, this act wasn’t just a political statement but a natural expression of Jewish identity. What we see now is not extremism, but a revival of the mainstream Zionist vision—a vision where religious freedom, sovereignty, and historical continuity are intertwined.

The hypocrisy is glaring: in the name of 'religious freedom', we're seeing condemnation of Jews praying in their own capital. Perhaps the real threat isn't Religious-Zionism, but the discomfort it causes to those who prefer appeasement over justice. If this much effort is being put into silencing Ben-Gvir and Smotrich, maybe it's because their message of sovereignty and religious equality is striking a nerve.

How should we respond? By doubling down. By showing that Religious-Zionism is about unity, peace, and the pursuit of justice for all. And by challenging anyone who dares to label these principles as 'extreme.' After all, isn't it time we asked why Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount is more controversial than the actual violence happening throughout the region?

Leave it to Netanyahu's gaggle of genocidal shills to try to paint their murderous miscreants, Ben-Gvir and Smotrich as misunderstood and saintly holy men.

Re: it's an attempt to paint any assertion of Jewish rights as radical.

After all, it's a Jewish "right" to murder, torture and steal.

That's an interesting observation into Islamism through the prism of politics.
Probably you don't know many Jews, thinking our politicians are judged
by their measure of holiness, or that any observant Jew would utter
such in political campaign to appeal to any sector of society.

But thanks for the insight onto Hamas drag queen triggers.

There wasn't this obsession about framing Ben-Gvir,
and Smotrich, if not for fear of their appeal
among the Arab-Muslim audiences.

President Isaac Herzog announced the launch of a pivotal global survey to shape dialogue and leadership development within the Jewish world — the first step of his Voice of the People initiative. The survey will help create a new worldwide Jewish advisory council to address the most pressing challenges facing Jewish communities in Israel and the Diaspora.

President Isaac Herzog said, “We are currently engaged in safeguarding the State of Israel and reinforcing the strength of the Jewish people amid a challenging war and rising antisemitism. Simultaneously, we face critical issues that demand our attention. In response, we are establishing the Voice of the People council, which will ensure the Jewish people’s ability to thrive in a changing world. The survey we are launching today will shape the council, and therefore shape the discussions impacting the future of the Jewish people. I encourage everyone to participate and contribute to help build our collective future.”

Voice of the People, Kol Ha’am, in Hebrew, was launched to become an incubator for innovative and practical solutions to the pressing challenges facing the Jewish people worldwide, while also fostering international Jewish leadership. Led by CEO Shirel Dagan-Levy, the initiative will set goals and objectives to implement the ideas generated in working groups, aiming to bring about real change in shaping the Jewish future.

Which "two" terms? we've been talking of "Israeli" and "Israelite" and "Jew" and "Judah" and so on, rather more than two terms. If you take issue with a statement I made please quote it verbatim.
the Merneptah Stele
The earliest documented mention of "Israel" as a people appears on the Merneptah Stele, an ancient Egyptian inscription dating back to around 1208 BCE. Archaeological evidence suggests that ancient Israelite culture evolved from the pre-existing Canaanite civilization.
