I remember this tragedy.

The white woman was an "EXTREME" racist. She had been harassing that black woman and her kids for weeks. They had just moved there. The white woman took one of the black woman's kid's toys into her house.

The black woman and one of her young sons went over to the white woman's house to get the toy. When they knocked on the white woman's door... the white woman looked out her peephole to see it was her black neighbor, she never opened her door, she got a gun and shot through her door murdering the black woman. The black woman's young son stood there as his mother collapsed and lay dying then he ran to get help.

Immediately, the white woman tried to use the stand your ground defense saying she was afraid for her life. They arrested her. They gave her only 25 years in prison, but she should have gotten life without the possibility of parole.

If the neighbor had been white with white children, do you think the shooter would have been so bothered by their behavior or had just seen it as kids doing what kids do - they play and sometimes are loud and unruly?

Or if her neighbor was white that the shooter would have claimed to the police that she was "in fear for my life"?

• Lorincz didn’t delete anything from her phone
• Lorincz cooperated with deputies from the moment they arrived and willingly granted interviews with detectives
• Owens had been warned to call law enforcement instead of confronting Lorincz herself

The defense was barred from most mentions of drug use and shootings the neighborhood had in the past. Detectives said they were called there frequently, but the judge ruled going into detail about the state of crime in the neighborhood would be prejudicial.

Blah, blah, blah, blah, all of that sounds good, the bottom line is she shot and killed a woman that was NO threat to her and now it's time to pay the piper.

If the shooter had been black she would have enjoyed the PRIVILEGE of not having her race put at the forefront of the issue. MSN’s headline wouldn’t have featured her race and would have read something like:

“terrified mother may have allegedly contributed to the death of far-right terrorist”.

Or

“Woman vindicated in home defense case”
