So I was having a discussion with my friend, he believes dangerous combat sports are the toughest and hardest to reach the top. I do believe sports like boxing, mixed martial arts, kick boxing are hard and brutal, but I think due to them being smaller, niche sports compared to mega huge sports like basketball and football, the talent pool is not as deep (maybe boxing is close).

I believe either Olympic sports or Football being the toughest sports since billions play football across the world. Olympic due to it having the best athletes of each country.

After all the time I have been posting here , do you really think that I would be as shallow as you suggest?
I certainly believe that sane and balanced patriotism is a fine binding social mechanism which can be very enjoyable and useful.
But have I given the impression that I would be so unbalanced that I would fall captive to it ?

Not that I go around talking like that in real life .

I gave my honest opinion and reasons for it , but I know sports minded people can become as much wedded to their sports heroes as kids can be to their pop idols
So I do not expect agreement or ask for it .
I just tallk as a person who has active;ly participated in just about every mainline sport -- some at a very decent level -- and this is what I have found in terms of discipline , fitness , manner of performance and outright skill .
But , as so often, it is our differences which are the most interesing of matters .
So . As long as we all agree that Cricket is the most demanding and rewarding sport I shall be satisfied .

Baseball is by far the hardest

If you are a tremendous athlete, you can't play unless you can hit the little white ball.

All other sports you could probably hold your own in some capacity as a good athlete.

football players are the best athletes, but thats because they live in the weight room. NBA players are the biggest physical specimen. If they lifted and did speed traning like NFL players they would be the best.

I think a lot of NBA players could have played professional football or baseball.

Mahomes was drafted by the Tigers. Jordan tried to play baseball. Didn't do horrible for a guy who hadn't played the sport in years.

Deon Sanders played baseball and football though. I bet he could have played in the NBA if he focused on that sport.

These guys are threading the needle at 160 miles an hour. If they thread it successfully, they get a great lap time, if they don't, they lose time, if they fail to thread that needle, they die. They do it 6 times on the Mountain Course for over 200 CORNERS! Their top speed will reach 200+mph, their slowest speed on the course is around 65, that's in a hairpin turn, after making a jump over a bridge.
