In a warming world, the ice will be where it is at today. However, in a cooling world, which so many here claim is happening, the ice extent and thickness would be increasing. And why should I wish to withdraw or modify a claim that is completely backed up by visual evidence from satellites, as well as people on the ground and sea? Perhaps you should explain why you would even ask such a question.
"Warming world" and "cooling world" is based on 100 year averages ... just one snap-shot only demonstrates the current dynamic conditions and has a vanishingly small contribution to the 100 year averages we're talking about ... you've admitted that we have only 40 years of data, at best we divide that into two 20 year average for comparison ... which are so contaminated by the on-going dynamics as to be useless ... that's why you should withdraw your claim, lack of empirical data ...
You seem a reasonably learned person ... this is less about chemistry, geology or physics ... and more about statistics ... either spend the money and buy a clue or just do the arithmetic yourself, it's not that hard unless you're a liberal ...
Oh my goodness, heavens to Betsy, wonder of wonders, a cold snap at the end of November on the West Coast. Never has happened before.
It's been cold down here in Lane and Douglas County all year ... Roseburg airport set an all time record cold in February ...
