There is no "controlled opposition party" part of the LP anymore. There's a bunch of progressives masquerading as libertarians and the Nick Sarwark sell-out wing, many of the principled libertarians are abandoning it, IMHO the only thing holding the remaining semblance of a national party together is McCardle and I'm not sure how long she can hold out.

They should have just offered the nomination to President Trump like many of us wanted, at least he's open to addressing some libertarian priorities.

I’d say that’s an accurate description of classic Libertarianism which can’t be sold to today’s new American. I’d also say such a description is in direct conflict with the premise of the thread.
For example dblack , a staunch Libertarian never said shit as government was doing all they could to flood our nation with thirdworlders and now he’s pissing his pants at the thought of government doing all they can to unwind the bullshit. He’s good with government intervention so long as said intervention moves the nation left…any intervention to correct a move left is FASCISM.

For example, keep our borders secure and devise immigration policies that benefit CITIZENS and others living legally within our borders, as contrasted with benefitting those who want to come here.

I’ve never heard that, real Libertarians have no interest in secure borders.
