When does the greed stop 8/20/2011

What is the liberal definition of greed? People who want to better themselves and are smart enough to work within the system to get ahead? Thank God for Wall Street and republicans and corporations. If it wasn't for them we would all be groveling in the dirt begging for food from the federal government.

Groveling and begging the government is the Progressive Utopia.

No it is not.
" The term "liberalism" has become associated with free markets and small government; in other words "classical liberalism." Progressivism, however, means in part advocating a larger role for government, but one that does not involve central planning.

"Tea party took America hostage on debt ceiling

The debt ceiling crisis is the latest in a series of hostage crises, as tea party Republicans threaten economic sabotage. "

Who said it, Moonbat? Dems or Communists?

"The War on Poverty is the unofficial name for legislation first introduced by United States President Lyndon B. Johnson during his State of the Union address on January 8, 1964. This legislation was proposed by Johnson in response to a national poverty rate of around nineteen percent. The speech led the United States Congress to pass the Economic Opportunity Act, which established the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) to administer the local application of federal funds targeted against poverty."

Lemme see, its 2011 and 1964 was 57 years ago.

Can we finally say it's a failure? A bigger LBJ Loss than Vietnam

Just about everything LBJ did turned to mud. Very expensive mud, that too many won't admit is mud. To them, it's 'valuable compost' or 'specialty soil'.

It's mud, and it needs to be cleaned up.

When will our greedy government stop taking our resources only to breed more Democrats?

Is this greed Jesus approves of?

You guys seem to think you have a direct link to what Jesus thinks over other people.

Which children does Jesus approve of abandoning?

Let's ask Rick Perry. He has the inside track on what Jesus thinks. I mean, he prayed for rain and now the drought in Texas is gone, right? :eusa_pray:

Actually, I would LOVE for some of these people to cite some scriptures where Jesus would approve of cutting aid to the poor while giving tax breaks to the rich at the same time. :cuckoo:

And WE'RE accused of creating "class warfare"? :eusa_hand:

.

We've been fighting this War on Poverty the Democrats way since the mid-60's, what's the exit strategy?

There isn't any exit strategy. How can there be.The whole reason for the Democrat party is to keep people needing Government to get them through the day.In return they vote Democrat.
And the wheel keeps on turning. :(

but they have it from on high that this is greed Jesus likes

Liberal Dictionary:
=========================================
Greed - a desire to keep the money you earned
Compassion - a desire to take the money other people have earned.

conservatives give 35% more to charity than libbs in the same income bracket do!!one of the reasons is christian organizations give more to charity than any other charity on earth!!libbs want every body else to pay !!so write a check libbs the additional 35%you are holding back would be a great help!!

And the band played on.

We need to dismantle the entire Democrat vote breeding machinery, it's suicidal that we're paying to keep it going

Jesus believed in charity, not welfare.
At no point in Christ's life did he take from someone else against their free will and give it to someone else. When he paid the temple tax, he had his disciples get 4 denaris coins out of a fish to pay them. When the pharisees attempted to trap Jesus in a political ploy, he responded "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's. Render unto God what is God."

Of course I could take that phrase and make the case that God and government are separate and so are taxes from charity, but that would be for political gamesmanship not wisdom.

Many also like to misinterpret the story of the Rich man to mean that God hates the rich. Of course this is missing the same point the same way the "Render unto Caesar" is deliberately misinterpreted to mean 'you should pay high taxes'. No, the point of that parable is to show that wealth, if you are not willing to give it all over to Him, will become your stumbling block and can prevent you from reaching a true relationship with Christ and therefor God.

Look at what God did for Solomon. Solomon asked for Wisdom and Discernment. God was so pleased He gave Solomon wealth and power too. Job, because satan wanted to test him, he lost everything, but because he obeyed and remained true and did not curse God, he was given everything back double once the testing was over.

God does not hate wealth. Wealth must be used as a tool for His work, if you do not want it to be a stumbling block. I like a quote from Billy Graham actually on this.

"We are not to be cisterns where wealth and the spirit collects and is stored, never to be used, but instead a river from which wealth and the spirit flows THROUGH us."

Paraphrased some, but that's the jist of it.

Greed does not equal successful greed. Nobody would fault the former president of Caterpillar would they who used to give up to 80% of his fortune away every year, would they? How about Andrew Carnegie? How can you excoriate a man who in the last quarter of his life became possibly the greatest philanthropist ever.

The idea that the poor cannot be greedy is disgusting. So tell me, when WILL ALL the greed stop? Particularly the greed for UNEARNED WEALTH???

It is the third of the seven deadly sins.

Shit, they deny those and the ten commandments.

I think you can become quite successful in life without an intense and selfish desire for wealth and power. Greed is not a requirement for financial success but a guarantee of an unhappy unfilled life.

That's why many rich people are neither unhappy nor unfulfilled, for they have been blessed by success from their honest labor and wise investment.

Greed and wealth are not intrinsically attached. Success and greed are not attached either.
