What's wrong with our government.

When I was growing up, in the 1940's, Germans had pretty much lost their sense of humor. :omg:
I don't think they ever had a sense of humor in the first place.

But they do have aa vote that counts and is fair.

Simple answer. They don't listen to the people they 'represent'. Congressperson's desks are piled high with the real issues the people want addressed. Meanwhile they are chasing the 'soup of the day' issues along with others in the cloister. Also, they have no idea what's going on in their districts back home, and they don't care.
What is wrong with our federal government is that it has been captured by deep pocket special interests who own our elected officials.

The re-election rate of House members for more than 50 years is 98 percent for those who run for re-election. The re-election rate for Senators is 80 percent.

Incumbents are the ones in power and they receive millions upon millions of contributions to their war chests from special interests.

This makes it nearly impossible for a challenger to unseat them.

The cause of this problem is that the federal government has been steadily usurping power from the states for the past three-quarters of a century.

We need to give that power back to the states.

It ******* kills me every time a liberal whines about too much money in politics and then in the next breath advocates for more federal powers.

They never make the connection!

.

The reason I wrote that thread was to show the popularity of positions Dem's hold with a majority of Americans on everything from doing something about climate change to passing enhanced gun control legislation.

You get those results only because of the way the questions are asked in those polls.

Whats wrong with our government? Nothing now.

The state can't get too uppity or Washington won't return the money their citizens have paid in federal taxes. Look what Trump is doing.

Voting doesn't make one a good citizen. Good citizenship does. I don't need an instruction manual from the government to be a good citizen.

It's the government that designs houses made of straw so that they will be destroyed in a hurricane. Instead of "promoting the general welfare" they are destroying it through neglect.
Slave Morality Pretending to Be Realistic

So stopping Government is as impossible as stopping hurricanes?

15th post
It's dysfunctional.

They're safe in their positions. Give them term limits and it'll be a game changer
I think every elected position should be 6 years, one and done. No posturing for re-election.

My realistic morality directly benefits me, government bullshit notwithstanding.

Government is a runaway train.
