Last year, seventeen-year-old Afaf Younes was killed by her father, who had allegedly been sexually molesting her. Afaf had tried to escape his sexual abuse by running away, but she was caught and returned to her father. He then shot her in the name of honor.

A sixteen-year-old Palestinian girl became pregnant after being raped by her younger brother. Once her condition became known, her family encouraged her older brother to kill her to remove the blemish from their honor. Her brothers, the rapist and the murderer, were exonerated. The girl was blamed. "She made a mistake," said one of her male cousins. "She had to pay for it."

When I was younger, I was a lot more conservative than I am now. And when I was in college, there was this smarmy liberal Jew I had to deal with. Well, one day, this guy was regaling the black kids with how down with the struggle he was with the fight against Apartheid in South Africa. And how we needed to divest from South Africa, and how what they were doing was horrible.

So just to be an absolute prick, I said, "How is what South Africa is doing to the Blacks any different than what Israel does to the Palestinians".

Man, that shut him up in a hurry, especially when all the homies started giving him what for.

What can I say, I've always been a bomb-thrower.

The real problem for liberals is that you can't say that apartheid, genocide, colonialism, and oppression are wrong (which almost everyone agrees they are now) but then say, "But it's okay when Israel does it because Hitler or something".

Israel is deliberately depriving people of water in Gaza as part of its genocidal campaign that is denying Palestinians the necessities of life. Israel’s refusal to allow in fuel and equipment to repair damaged water pipes and desalination plants is making it impossible for people to get enough water, leading to deadly medical consequences.

How much does a water treatment plant cost as opposed to tunnels as extensive as the London subway system?

What are the South Africans doing to black people? Given it’s a black majority government. And many whites have fled to the UK and the US, because all the jobs are given to black people. I’ve spoken with them, in both countries.

When apartheid was in effect Negroes in South Africa had the highest standard of living in Africa.
