The essence of the story is - one doesn't attack a country like Iran - without a solid plan - just bombing parts of the leadership to hell - doesn't work. Putin made the same mistake - hoping to enforce a regime-change in the first week - and then got stuck in a now 4 years lasting murderous war.

So the only viable solution is, to get out of this war as fast as possible - resulting in Iran controlling most of the oil trade for the next 12 month - reshuffle your cards and approach Iran via DIPLOMACY - and in parallel work out a FEASIBLE military option that naturally will involve a considerable number of "freedom-fighters", whilst splitting the IRGC and Iran's parties into several factions - and hope/pray that the faction the US chose will be the right one. (since the US has a remakable talent, always to choose the wrong partner). And most importantly - keep Israel out of this and force them to accept a two state solution that is fair to the Palestinians.

To plan in that manner, an idiot like Whiskey Pete is unable to do - as well as the entire clown cabinet - and the narcissistic fraudster (who is looking only for short - term money gains) isn't interested in.

What would it take to secure the Strait of Hormuz? I'm talking about how to make Iran militarily incapable of threatening ships going through that passage. Do we need to secure all of Iran's coastline and destroy all of its ships? How far inland would we have to go to prevent aerial attacks? Do we have the military capability to do these things?

Kuwait around 900 km from Tehran - and from Kuwait-city to Baghdad around 700 km. Somehow those Americans managed to do this during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.

And even Iraq is a possibility - as well as Pakistan could be negotiated.
