Zone1 What led up to the Hebrew people rejecting God in 1 Samuel 8 and demanding a human king?

Because it couldn't be possible that the Israelites belied God was on their side so they crafted narratives of historical events to teach lessons about the covenant, obedience, justice and Israel's special relationship to God?

Have you tried googling it?
They stole 3/4s of them from prior religions.
They just made a fairy tale book full of magic, immorality and obscene rituals.
You believe in the main character but dont believe his actions in the book. So you make things up to justify it. Then you find people online who are the same and scream like its fact. It isnt. The bible doesnt mention the stories are allegories. YOU make things up. You dont believe in your own god. LOL What a loser.

No. You come here demanding everyone read these accounts literally so you can gas light them because you are a narcissist.

Narcissists frequently gaslight as a core manipulative tactic to maintain control, boost their fragile egos, and make others doubt their own reality, memories, or sanity, fostering dependency and power over the victim. It's a common behavior for individuals with narcissistic traits or Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) to protect their self-image and feel superior.
Here goes your narcissistic gaslighting.. As usual.
"he is arguing the actual book and not believing in my made up justifications! TN is the bad guy here!"

Pick a lane, bro. Because none of that has anything to do with what we are discussing. I'm not making anything up. Google "did Israelites craft narratives of events to teach lessons about the covenant, obedience, justice and their special relationship with God." Do you suppose google is making stuff up too?

Said the guy who created a thread to gas light Christians.

The priests went woke as every man did what was right in his own eyes.

The fear of God was absent as sin was not seen as destructive to society anymore.

Then when moral decay enters society as a result, tyranny is just around the corner.

And if those three thousand Jewish soldiers had decided on a different course of action other than tying up the Danite Judge Samson, then Samson could have led the twelve tribes to a time period that in many ways could have been comparable to the time period of King David and King Solomon, [but we reap the results of our unwise and unbelieving decisions]. Those three thousand Jewish soldiers were in a similar mentality to the ten spies who brought back a bad report that differed from the report made by Joshua and Caleb.

In the Bible (Judges 15), three thousand men of Judah went to confront Samson in a cave at Etam Rock because they were afraid the Philistines would punish them for Samson's actions. They offered to bind Samson and hand him over to the Philistines, promising not to harm him, and Samson agreed, but once bound with new ropes, the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, the ropes broke, and he killed a thousand Philistines with a donkey's jawbone

Judges 15

But it came to pass within a while after, in the time of wheat harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid; and he said, I will go in to my wife into the chamber. But her father would not suffer him to go in.

2;And her father said, I verily thought that thou hadst utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to thy companion: is not her younger sister fairer than she? take her, I pray thee, instead of her.

3And Samson said concerning them, Now shall I be more blameless than the Philistines, though I do them a displeasure.

4;And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between two tails.

5;And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, with the vineyards and olives.

6 Then the Philistines said, Who hath done this? And they answered, Samson, the son in law of the Timnite, because he had taken his wife, and given her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burnt her and her father with fire.

7;And Samson said unto them, Though ye have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease.

8;And he smote them hip and thigh with a great slaughter: and he went down and dwelt in the top of the rock Etam.

9;Then the Philistines went up, and pitched in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi.

10;And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.

11;Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.

And they said unto him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves.

13;And they spake unto him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.

14;And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.

15;And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith.

16;And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.

17;And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramathlehi.

By thirty one C. E. the Scribes and Pharisees were also scared that the Romans would punish them for what Rabbi Yeshua - Jesus was doing and teaching so they even made plans to kill Lazarus, [perhaps Lazarus had a story to tell that might remind us of the NDE account of former Atheist Rabbi Alon Anava]?

You can read more about the plan to get rid of Lazarus here:

But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done.

47;Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.

48;If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.

49;And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,

50;Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

51;And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;

52;And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.

53;Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.

and

;Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

10;But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;

11;Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

12;On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
