What Is Your Favorite Restaurant?

I make Hungry Jack's pancakes at home.

That's not the Hungry Jack's I was thinking about but I'm sure you've made a good choice. :)

Denny's is pretty damn good too.

If I didn't my dog with me on the way down to Florida, I would stop at a Cracker Barrel. I always wanted to try them.
Denny's is too slow. Way too slow.

I laughed when I heard about a lawsuit by some black people who claimed Denny's discriminated against them by giving them slow service.

Denny's does that to EVERYONE.

Waffle House is super fast.

Cracker Barrel is good food. I've eaten at locations all over the country. I like the gift shop you can peruse while waiting for a table, too. That's really smart of them.

My favorite restaurant no longer exists. It was a Chinese restaurant on one side, and a Japanese restaurant on the other side. It was huge.

The Japanese side was my favorite. It was a teppanyaki place where they cook your food on a large steel grill in front of you. My favorite chef was from Indonesia.

The fare was zucchini, onions, noodles, chicken or steak, and a lot of combined sauces. The magic was in the sauces and my Indonesian friend did it just right.

Like all teppanyaki places, they made a volcano out of the onion and perform tricks with the spatula.

I would starve myself for 24 hours before going there. The chef grew to like me and he would make double the usual amount of food for me.

I have been to a lot of teppanyaki restaurants since then, but none of them match the incredible goodness of my favorite.

When I moved away from the area, I offered to adopt the Indonesian guy and take him with me. I was joking of course, but my soul was serious.

I checked recently to see if that place is still there. It isn't. I would consider buying a plane ticket just to eat at that restaurant again.
.

This makes me miss my Japanese in-laws deeply! We used to have teppanyaki at their house, with an electric griddle in the middle of the table, each of us cooking our own selection of meat and vegetables and passing around the sauces, all made at home by my amazing MIL!

Any place that serves good burgers and crispy fries
.

I remember a wonderful rural roadside diner in Nebraska, run by two sisters, where the burgers and fries were better than any I've eaten in the five decades since.

And another diner of similar description in Oregon had cherry pie beyond words!

I was reading comments on the restaurant I went to last night. One person wrote "the managers were rude, the waiter never came around and the guys with meat never came around. Complete opposite experience I had. So I wonder what that person looked like. Were they rude? Not properly dressed? Who knows. Why would the manager be so nice to us but rude to them?

It was interesting to read that review after I went.

I have simple tastes

An old fashioned burger and thin, crispy fries with cold beer to wash it down is all I need

Dennys and Waffle House are my favorite places to people watch on Friday and Saturday late at night. Dennys hamburgers are the best but like with all chain eateries it can be which one you go to.

SNL did an outstanding sketch about Waffle House. They nailed it.

It especially rang true for me as I myself got into a fight in a Waffle House parking lot in Pascagoula, Mississippi.

Just down the street from a police station. This is the stupid shit I used to do when I was whiskey drunk.

Didn't take long for the cops to round us all up.

The one I frequent had nice folks running it but it did have one shooting death and a few more fights that ended in injuries. They didn't like fire arms on the premises but late at night I always had my concealed carry.

Nope. Burger King is called Hungry Jack's in Australia or at least it was while I was living there in the early 1980's.

Maybe it's not cool in Hungary to be associated with a King.

The monarchy of Hungary was formally abolished on 1 February 1946

Hardee's fast food on the east coast is called Carl's Jr. on the west coast.

Hellmann's mayonnaise on the east coast is called Best Foods on the west coast.

Have you ever seen Pulp Fiction? He explains why the Quarter Pounder is called the Royal with Cheese.

In Paris, the Quarter Pounder with Cheese is called a ``Royal with Cheese'' due to differences in measurement systems and cultural references. The term was popularized by the film Pulp Fiction, where the character Vincent Vega, played by John Travolta, explains to his partner the name change.
