In a way you have a valid point because the negative or scary near death experience accounts do add weight to the idea that we had better learn the important lessons, number one being to love others, and generally be grateful even for the small blessings in our lives.

Some people believe in reincarnation; if you don't learn the important lessons (of which there are many) in this life, you come back in another life and you keep coming back until you do.

I personally am in no position to rule out the Jewish Gilgul Cycle that seems to fit brilliantly with the extensive research conducted by Dr. Ian Stevenson.

During his original research into various cases involving children’s memories of past lives, Dr. Stevenson did note with interest the fact that these children frequently bore lasting birthmarks which supposedly related to their murder or the death they suffered in a previous life. Stevenson’s research into birthmarks and congenital defects has such particular importance for the demonstration of reincarnation, since it furnishes objective and graphic proof of reincarnation, superior to the – often fragmentary – memories and reports of the children and adults questioned, which even if verified afterwards cannot be assigned the same value in scientific terms.

In many cases presented by Dr. Stevenson there are also medical documents available as further proof, which are usually compiled after the death of the person. Dr. Stevenson adds that in the cases he researched and “solved” in which birthmarks and deformities were present, he didn’t suppose there was any other apposite explanation than that of reincarnation. Only 30% to 60% of these deformities can be put down to birth defects which related to genetic factors, virus infections or chemical causes (like those found in children damaged by the drug Thalidomide or alcohol). Apart from these demonstrable causes, the medical profession has no other explanation for the other 40% to 70% of cases than that of mere chance. Stevenson has now succeeded in giving us an explanation of why a person is born with these deformities and why they appear precisely in that part of their body and not in another.

There are a number of books written about NDEs and also regression hypnosis, where a person under hypnosis recalls a past life wherein some sort of event occurred that somehow influences their current life. And some of these past lives are from quite some time ago, as in thousands of years. I do not purport any of this to be true or factual, maybe so and maybe not. Just throwing it out there for anyone to consider.

I believe that there is a difference between the Helen Wambach Ph. D. research as well as what she did along with Dr. Chet Snow vs the Dr. Ian Stevenson research. I do not personally have the understanding to dogmatically and clearly explain the differences. I could guess...... but it would be only a guess.

I will now quote you a few paragraphs from a near death experience account that I believe is correct and fits with the larger picture.

[John J. Davis ] :

Past Lives

The next building he took me to was another large building with columns all along the front and the sides. He took me inside, and one of the rooms he took me to looked just like a theater, like we have today. There was a single movie screen in front, and my guide said, “I’m going to show you past lifetimes.” This was something I had a hard time with because, being a Catholic, being raised in the church and reading the Bible, there is no talk of past lifetimes. But the truth is, we are eternal. We exist forever; we never die. We can have many, many lifetimes—as many as we want. It’s totally up to us.

He said, “I’m going to show you some different lifetimes.” All of a sudden, the screen turned on, and the first life he showed me, I was a monk. I had a shaved head, and I was wearing a red gown or tunic, and I was teaching kids. In that lifetime, my job was to teach kids about life in a monastery. What was so interesting is I knew by looking at this where that lifetime occurred, and it was somewhere in Southeast Asia. Then it went blank.

Then the screen came on again, and he showed me another life. This time I was a shoe peddler. I had a little wheelbarrow with a bunch of shoes in it. My job in that lifetime was I fixed people’s shoes. I would go to their homes in the village, get the shoes they wanted me to fix, take them back to my shop, fix them, and then bring them back to the people. That was my job. That life took place somewhere in Eastern Europe. Then that life disappeared.

Then another life showed up, and this was of a fisherman. I was a fisherman in a little raggedy boat on a lake. I had nets, and I was tossing these nets into the water, and part of my job in that life was to help feed the community through catching fish. That lifetime happened somewhere in the Middle East.

That’s when I realized—wow—we really do have past lifetimes. We can have as many lifetimes as we want, or as few as we want. It’s totally up to us. That was the building where we go to view past lifetimes.

Note, it is my belief that Mr. John J. Davis is giving an accurate testimony of his own near death experience but I am not in a position to absolutely rule out the possibility that he and other near death experiencers might have encountered a deceptive angel who can appear as an angel of light? Matthew chapter four gives us an account of even Messiah Yeshua - Jesus being somehow "tempted."

I have experienced the after life. Its real

Yes, I totally agree with you that the afterlife is real. I haven't really experienced it myself but the testimonies of these near death experiencers has convinced me.

so perhaps it is, and the physical realm merely an illusion Dennis

Yes, near death experiencers are reporting that in comparison to that higher invisible dimension that they experienced, this four dimensional space - time continuum that we are now in, is more like a dream environment, than the eternal realm that they glimpsed.

We literally eat other life forms.

With Fava Beans and a nice Chianti.

Infinite potential maybe….

Yes, that is what I am thinking that those Life Reviews of near death experiencers strongly hints that our Creator believes is the true value of each human life.

For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in him, may not perish, but may have life everlasting." [John 3:16]

And here are a couple of sentences from a Jewish website.

As a faithful shepherd he already cares so much about his people that he volunteered to suffer all kinds of agonies to assure that not a single Jew of all times will be lost.20

Mashiach shall meditate on the Torah21 and be preoccupied with mitzvot. He shall teach all the Jewish people and instruct them in the way of G‑d. He will prevail upon Israel to follow and observe the Torah, repair its breaches, and fight the battles of G‑d.22

Mashiach will reveal altogether new insights, making manifest the hidden mysteries of the Torah,23 to the point that “all the Torah learned in the present world will be vain compared to the Torah of Mashiach.”24

Though Mashiach comes first and foremost to Israel, all the nations will recognize his wisdom and sublimity and submit to his rule.25 He will guide and instruct them as well.26

There is no need for Mashiach to perform signs and wonders to prove himself.27 Nonetheless, he will do so.28

Bill Gates seems to think that they value of each human life is connected to their Carbon Footprint.

In my opinion this is an astonishingly Low valuation to place on human life.

Infinite.

Yes!

And I just ran into some fascinating information just this morning that all of us were given a mission for our lives even before we were born.

I find that this idea is very helpful when it comes to what all is happening here under the sun.

2. Mission Information Revealed Through NDEs

RaNelle Wallace learned everyone promised God before birth to accomplish our mission to bring about goodness on Earth: “[Before birth] we raised our right arms, just as we might in a court of law, and we made a sacred covenant with God that we would do all in our power to accomplish our missions on Earth. And I felt the tremendous honor of making this covenant before our Heavenly Father. We vowed, in effect, to become partners with him in bringing about goodness on Earth. We promised to use our time and energies and talents to help bring about the savior’s full purposes, to help bring our brothers and sisters back to him and to our Father again.”

Analisa D. learned from God that everyone has a mission: “I am intensely grateful to God for letting me glimpse the afterlife and to know that we are all here on a mission, each and everyone of us. It is as though God’s love is coursing through me and I have the ability to give so much love to people. It is wonderful!”

God assured William Si he will return after completing his mission: “I have a promise made to me by the Creator, the moment my mission in this existence is over, I will leave immediately and I don’t care how I go out. I just want to go home.”

God told Elzada O. her mission was not finished: “I remember God telling me something that my mission on Earth was not finished. In other words it wasn’t my time.”

Rahmaan was told his mission wasn’t finished: “The Light pointed to me and reminded me of my responsibilities and told me that I have to finish my mission on Earth.”

Virginie R. was told by God about her mission: “It was God talking to me, as he said that I had to go back to my family, that I would give birth to six children, and that I still had a mission to accomplish.”
