Since God is said to be love, it would behoove us to better understand what love is exactly.
So what say you?
The commands were rules that God told them to do. They were acts of good deeds. But those acts did not come from the heart, but they had followed some of them out of fear. But practicing these acts supposedly had led them to love one another from the heart. By following a few but breaking some makes it worthless. Just like as if you helped your neighbor, but then turn around and sleep with your neighbor's spouse. That is why God said if you just break one of His commands, that you have broken them all, because they have caused pain in someone life, and that is the meaning of sin. And if a person had kept on breaking just one, that it defeats the purpose. And so loving someone means that you doesn't want to hurt them, but to make sure that they are happy. Like some parents disciplines their children out of love. Eventhough that it seems very harsh at the time. But they want to make sure that they are well taken care of while they are gone.
Matthew 23:23 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
Hebrews 12:11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
