What has Obama done so far to deserve to be re-elected?

Not a fuckin' thing.
....Except to avoid the BUSH DEPRESSION.

January 13, 2008

"The recession-deniers were muzzled by a horrendous last two weeks of December, and the gloom-and-doomers are now out in force. Their key arguments:

* Plummeting housing will now drag down the rest of the economy.

*The "bad debt" problem is not just "sub-prime" folks who should never have have taken out mortgages in the first place. It includes credit card debt, "high quality" mortgages, car loans, and other leverage that have recently become a consumer way of life.

*Pressure on consumers is leading to a reduction in consumer spending (70% of economy), which, in turn, will lead to a reduction in spending by companies that sell stuff to consumers.

*The question now is not "will there be a recession?" but "how bad will it get?"

*The most optimistic forecasts in a NYT gloom-and-doom round-up are for three crappy quarters, regardless of what the Fed does. Less optimistic forecasts suggest that we are, well, screwed.

After blowing the last downturn, we've been worried this one since last summer (see below). We also suspect that, given the importance of housing to the economy and debt to consumer spending, the recession will be deeper and more prolonged than people think."

Let's face it folks, in power republican fail, no need to debate that history is there to prove it. Out of power they whine, read their replies here, empty comments is the best they can do. Sensible people have wonder how republicans ever get elected, but corporate money buys media, and media manages the message and the lemmings follow. "Why Conservatives Can't Govern" by Alan Wolfe

"Every Wednesday morning, a group of conspirators meets to plot out how to most effectively attack the federal government. This is not a group of rag-tag terrorists – they wear $2,000 suits and occupy powerful positions in society. But their ideas are politically radical and they do pose a real threat to the normal workings of government in the U.S. They are a group of leading conservatives who believe that government is a malevolent force in society and they have a fierce determination to drastically cut it back. They are convinced that the central problem in our country is too much government – too many social programs, too many regulations, and too much taxation – and they are committed to doing something about it." Obama has been a terrible president.

Cast my first vote for Nixon in 1972 .

He ended the partisanship in DC. He also enforced a completely transparent process. Oh and let's not forget he gave everyone thousands of dollars for their old turd cars. And he had beers with really important people when they couldn't get along. Also he helped Israel negotiate with those pesky terrorists.
So much more but I'm too busy to keep typing!

On a note with the cars ... lets not forget it was all so that we would move to a small vehicle and hopefully electric one, but instead the ones selling are gas guzzling camaros, chargers, challengers and trucks

Are you better off than you were 4 years ago?

I don't think I am....but I also think I could be much worse off than I am now.

Looks like we found the Democrats re-election strategy: We know the economy is in shambles and we haven't done anything to fix it, but just 'imagine' it could of been twice as bad if Republicans we're in charge - there would be no middle class, the elderly would be wheeled out of hospitals and dumped in the cold streets, all latinos would be rounded up and put in concentration camps, and the CEOs of oil companies would run the country.

:clap2:

C'mon, the streets aren't that cold.

Seriously, I think you're right in a VERY large sense of the word. He has done some things to fix it and its a matter of time until the stimuli hits; the peace dividend didn't help Bush Sr. much; it helped Clinton.

But if you go back to the 08 election, McCain's position on Iraq would mean we'd still be there. We know what has happened since we largely pulled out; Iraq has stabilized by and large. So we know that McCain would still have us there; wasting billions per week.
You can't argue any thing else on that topic. Its just one way that we're better off than we would have been if McCain were to have been elected.

The others? Time will tell. Your characterization that he's done nothing is flat out wrong. And I think a sober examination of history will reveal that.

Obama has earned a second term...

e5a330af-2e62-4e74-8238-d11d5188bb3e.gif

Wake up...yer dreamin'!

In the eyes of the faithful, Obama has earned a second term just by being Obama.

Do you discount that Bush earned a 2nd term by simply being Bush? Where was his Primary challenge?

I don't care if you are disgusted with the President but shit...at least try to be fair. I mean...you owe that to yourself if nobody else.

That stupid list of all the boykings so called accomplishments...what a joke.

all of them are friggen meaningless petty BS

The man is the biggest joke that has ever been played on us. and Carter had that honor for the longest time..

Do you discount that Bush earned a 2nd term by simply being Bush? Where was his Primary challenge?
He had none, just as Obama won't.
I don't care if you are disgusted with the President but shit...at least try to be fair. I mean...you owe that to yourself if nobody else.

Yeah. In case you haven't noticed, we're talking about the election, not the conventions.

Depends on your outlook. If you are a socialist who hates America you should love him. Green jobs? Where are they? He hired a communist with no experience to be on his green jobs board. Barry spent the first year apologizing for American affluence and promising reparations to the world for the unproven science of man-made global warming while the US was sinking into recession. Obama refered to the US Chamber of Commerce as a sinister tool of the republican party and he consistantly denigrated American corporations which hire the people, pay the salaries and manufacture the products. The choice is clear. If you want a neo-socialist Barry Hussein is your candidate.

Say what you want about the President and I can say plenty myself but the winning position isn't one where the Defense Department gets a blank check every year and nearly every other program has to fight for table scraps. I think Obama understands that; I don't think any of the GOP candidates do outside of Paul who (I'm told) has no chance.

Most of this post was ok in my book, but 2 problems with this part.

One, other programs besides defense are not "fighting for table scraps". That's so absurd that I really don't even think you actually believe it yourself.

And two, you believe way too much shit based on what "you're told".

Who the fuck ACTUALLY knows what kind of chance Paul has? The fact that he may not have a chance might have a shit ton to do with the fact that people are being told he doesn't, and simply believing it.

Turn off your TV.

Nothing that balances what he's done to not get re-elected.

UE; up
Debt; shy rocket
War; mongering
America; we are sorry for being
Constitution; really? Really
lobbyist; in the WH
Favortism; check and re-checked
Mid-America; hates. They cling to bible and guns
Busniness; none, mostly Harvard Profs work for him
Spending; didn't work, but wants to spend more
Law; don't need to follow it.
Patriot Act; he was against it before he signed it [twice]
Gitmo; open

Damn, you would have to be an utter party before country fool to support him.
