What Do You Think God Should Have Done With These People?

Jeremiah contains the prophecies, warnings, and teachings that were part of the prophet's ministry to the Southern Kingdom of Judah. Many of Jerusalem’s leaders and people rejected Jeremiah and other prophets and continued to sin, Jerusalem was destroyed and many Jews were taken captive to Babylon.
God made promises to father Abraham. There exists 3 basic promises that rewarded Israel. He promised the offspring of Abraham would 1. receive their own land. 2. they would become a great nation. 3. and the final promise (and the only existing promise that has not been completely fulfilled is.......God promised Abraham that his offspring would be a blessing to all the nations of the world.

But these promises came with conditions.......God made other promises to Biblical Israel, promises that included punishments for broken covenants. God promised to destroy Israel when it disobeyed and did not live up to the covenant conditions (Lev. 26:27-29). They would be driven from the land of promise (Duet. 4:25-28). They would even cease to be a nation, like other nations that found the wrath of God. (Deut. 8:19-20). All these things happened as recorded in scripture. Israel sinned and the northern tribes were 1st removed (2 Kings 17:7-18). When the remaining tribe sinned it also was removed (2 Kings 23:26-27). God had mercy and promised this 2nd captivity would last only 70 years....but the entire nation of Biblical Israel would never be totally restored to its former glory.....only a "remnant" would be allowed to return to the land of promise (Jer. 25:8-13, Isa. 10:20-23).

Just like a broken potters jar......Israel would remain a broken nation, pieced back together but never made whole and complete again (Jer. 19:7-13). This broken, pieced back together nation is the conditions that Jesus was born into........

This is evidence that God keeps all His promises.....even the promises that show what happens when God's laws are willfully and with premeditation disobeyed continually. God has removed evil from the world 2x previously.......once during the days of Noah, and again when men were worshiping the evil god Baal. Its no surprise that God kept His promise to Israel both the rewarding promises and the promises of punishment. Today.......any Jew can be saved, if they do not continue to reject the Christ of prophecy.

The basic promises were fulfilled as recorded in scripture. The land promise was fulfilled when God brought the Israelites out of bondage and gave them the land of Canaan during the days of Joshua. God remembered the land promise made to Abraham (Ex. 6:3-8) He instructed the Israelites to enter and take possession of the land (Deut. 1:6-8). And they (Israelites fulfill the land promise (Joshua 21:43-45), "There failed not ought of any good thing which the Lord had spoken unto the house of Israel; ALL CAME TO PASS.

The nation promise had come previously while the Israelites still dwelt in Egypt. God told Jacob that promise would be accomplished in Egypt (Gen. 46:3). Their population increased greatly, their numbers became like the stars just as God had promised (Ex. 1:7, Deut. 1:9-11)

And the promise for the descendants of Abraham to become a blessing to all the nations of the world is still ongoing, as Christians are being added to the kingdom of God, aka. the church that Jesus constructed daily, having already consumed over 1/3 the worlds population in becoming the largest religion on earth. The promise came to the Jews first through Christ (Acts 3:24-26).......for the first 10 years of Christianity it was exclusive to the Jews only........the first gentile convert did not occur until the house of Cornelius, the Roman Centurion (Acts 10:1-48)

Today there is neither Greek nor Jew..........they all have become one nation through Christ Jesus and heirs to the promise of father Abraham (Gal. 3:8-9,13-16, 26-29).
