Zone1 What do Dems mean by their promises of “affordability”?

40% of people on welfare have jobs, just not jobs that pay well enough. Most of the rest are elderly and disabled.

The problem with these work requirements is that when the job market sucks (usually when Republicans get in) there are no jobs to be had.

It's like the old saying, "you have to have money to make money."

To hold down my current job, I have to have a car to get to it, I have to spend a certain amount on haircuts and dry cleaning to be somewhat presentable in the office. This is why so many people loved working from home after Covid; it made their lives easier. What's the thing big companies are pulling back on now? Work from home.
Only 40% have jobs? That means the majority of welfare people do not.

And they don’t need a car. They can take the bus and the train like I did for many years.

Decent people care more about other people than an ideology.
And there we have it..."Being a shitlib makes me a better person than you!"

Ah, it's all a conspiracy. Right.

Who was it that insisted that government agencies limit how much money a poor family can make before they lose benefits?

This is what this whole argument about ACA extensions was about: that people who were getting ACA were making too much money and still getting a subsidy.

It's not a conspiracy, we are seeing many examples of fraud, and continuing your own job is human nature.

ACA subsidies are actually a different argument, showing the worthlessness of the ACA.

And it’s always meaningless platitudes: “We CARE about people!”

Right. That’s why as soon as the Dems take over, they levy delivery fees, extended sales tax fees, cause electric bills to go up, etc., on the working class.

There is shit all the haughty ***** can do about local SDs/PDs helping ICE.

She can direct the SP but they are little more than revenue generators on the highways.

Of course the roughly seven counties that put her in office might follow along. The rest won't.

Section 8 vouchers bring the cost of housing down.

Even more than that…..they won’t want to become self-supporting. Right now, they have their medical care paid for, highly subsidized rents, so much free food that they can afford to shop at Whole Foods, etc., etc.

Where’s the incentive to learn a job skill and move into the productive class?
You tell us girl

Tell us how people are better off if you give them less

Because it’s better to teach a person to fish than to just give them free fish that other people catch.

Many poor are unfit for the workforce in any capacity. Mental problems, depression, addiction, handicaps, criminal history, illness, etc. In Jesus day they were called the "sick, lame, and the halt".

THey can work stop the welfare and bring back the father

50% nature, 50% nurture. Single mothers modeling the “welfare lifestyle” as an acceptable lifestyle rather than teach their own children that the goal should be self-reliance are exacerbating the problem.

There is only a small minority of adults who are incapable of even the most basic job.
