My GMC Savana van gets about 11 mph around town and 14.5 on long trips on the highway, and if I was buying another vehicle now I'd buy another one just like it.

We use it to get us and all our personal stuff to Florida and back once a year, and the extra cost is worth it. If it got 28 mpg we'd save almost 50 percent of our gasoline costs, amounting to $340 on that trip, but I wouldn't give up the body mass, space, and power to do that.

I take care of the cost of gas by limiting my driving around local destinations, by strategic planning.
