Car collecting has been a longtime hobby also.
Inherited the silver one from my dad after he passed. He originally bought it in Germany. 1983 500SEC. Still have it. Has less than 100k miles.

The black one I bought new and drive a couple of times a week.

After the matador my wife and I can't remember between this and that but in 1980 210 Datsun, we have had a couple of ford tempo's in the 80's, escort, dodge spirit, 1990 saturn, 1996 Ford Van, 2005 Ford Escape (heal up until last year) then donated to DAV. 2 hyundai elantra's in past 10 years, now 2023 Hyundai Kona.

I may have missed one or two.

If the challenger would have held up my abuse may have been second best. Both of my elantras so far were the best. Saturn was pretty good got 35 mpg back in 1990.

Take it back the corvair was the worst. I bought it from a friend when stationed in Texas in 1968. Terrible car, I ragged on him until we both went overseas.

I don't collect.

1982 was the 1st year for the white with blue lettered license plate. They had the sunburst California logo.
In 1987 the sunburst was removed and California was spelled with red block letters. 1998 had the sesquicentennial 150 years writing at the bottom and that ended in 2000 and then restarted with dmv.ca.gov in 2011. The plates on that car were updated. Many reasons why. Either that car came from out of State, or possibly wrecked with an insurance "salvage title"

definitely wasn't salvaged, it had 50k miles and i was the 2nd owner......thanks for the info, the owner let me keep the plate and i threw it in the trunk for the next owner to see.........i bought it for around 2500 i think.....sold it for 3800 or something

i like to find them cheap in good cond, pretty it up, drive it for a spell, sell it for what i have in it.on to the next

that cutlass and matador are really sweet....................those mid 70s cutlasses are going for 10k

The best vehicle I owned was a 1995 Jeep Cherokee Sport. Bought new.

I kept the vehicle for 25 years. Used it as my daily driver for most of that time. When I sadly got rid of it the mileage was 230K. I gave it to my nephew and he is still driving it.

I made sure it was serviced properly and never had any trouble with it.

On the other hand we had a two Jeep Grand Cherokees as my wife's SUVs and both of them were lemons. One of them had to have the engine replaced at 60K.

Now I have a Tundra truck I bought new back in 2013 and it is doing great. Of course it only has 29K miles on it so it is hardly broken in. I'll keep it for the rest of my life.

Looking back years ago the coolest vehicle we owned was my wife's 1969 Chevy Impala Super Sport. Her father bought it for her as a college graduation gift.

In high school I had a '58 Chevy Impala. Not as cool as the '55s and '57s some of the other kids had but it had a nice big bench front seat that was great when taking the chicks to the drive in.

Every time I see a 70 challenger, cutlass and 55 belair I regret ever getting rid of them but who knew back then in our 20's? I've seen some challengers from 1970 go for $75,000.

I loved my barracuda and I would sell my soul to go back in time and kick myself in the ass for selling it. Color was metallic brown with a stripe., She was loud with a glass pack muffler and her ass was lifted high. I was hooked on speed.

My favorite was a 1967 Ford falcon. My uncle bought it for 100 bucks when I was 10 and we spent 2 years fixing it up he and I. We did everything except the paint job which we painted it sky blue like its original color. I drove it when I was 12, I wasn't allowed to leave our city but I drove it to middle school.

2nd favorite was my 5 litre 1989 mustang LX. I didn't do anything major to it but I regeared it, and did a few other things. It had some get up and go on it. I loved sinking back into the seat when I took off.

Worst car was a 1990 Camaro. It was a piece of shit through and through. I had it about 1 year and always had issues with it and took a tight turn on a downhill road and ran into mud that washed down the hill into the street and landed upside down in the creek. After I got out I got my shit out and took my shit out, took off the license plate, took the vin number off, reported it stolen and far as I know it's still down there.

But overall my 2005 Toyota Corolla was the best car I ever had. Until I traded it in last year on a new Corolla it ran like a champ, I took care of it and never to do much outside of regular maintenance.
