"We've made a mistake." trump's trade war sends GOP into a frenzy

WASHINGTON — Fear, trepidation and loathing are now, seemingly, America’s top exports. Just ask Senate Republicans.

A day after President Donald Trump slapped a 10% tariff on most every U.S. import from the Rose Garden, some in the GOP are freaking out.

No kidding. Handing the WH to a convicted felon may not have been a good idea. trump is not slowing down. He is full steam ahead in trashing the economy that Biden gave him. He knows he will not run again, cause less of his cult will vote for him next time. He wants all manufacturing to return to the US. Factories are not built over night. Factories are not built in months or hardly in years. It will take generations to bring back manufacturing. The next president will want to get elected. He/she will not advocate keeping trump's insane tariffs in place. So where does trump's plan go.....how about down the drain?
/----/ "He wants all manufacturing to return to the US. Factories are not built over night." ORANGE MAN BAD.

"Factories are not built in months or hardly in years. It will take generations to bring back manufacturing. "
You're pulling crap out of your ass and posting it as fact. The time line is months to a year. Besides, construction requires construction workers who get jobs and materials being produced (more jobs).

How Long Does it Take to Build a Factory: Timeline for Automotive ...

Oct 4, 2024 From obtaining permits to completing the plant, the elapsed time is a compilation of planning, design, resource allocation, and actual construction. ... with an average factory build ranging from $2,700,000 to $4,000,000 and taking several months to over a year. ...

"The next president will want to get elected. He/she will not advocate keeping trump's insane tariffs in place. "
Finally, history proves you wrong. When Biden took over, he kept most of Trump 45s tariffs and added two more. You big dope.

I keep worrying that Republicans think the the rest of the world can't do without us and they are wrong. Suddenly other countries will stop buying from us and find other partners.

I asked my MAGA buddy yesterday what about all the business we could lose. If we only buy American and everyone else stops buying from us, won't that be a loss for America? He seems to think our market is worth more than all the other markets combined. But I just saw this and it makes me think Trump might be overplaying his hand.

The top exports of Brazil are Soybeans, Crude Petroleum, Iron Ore, Raw Sugar, and Corn, exporting mostly to China ($106B), United States ($37B), Argentina ($17.2B), Netherlands ($11.4B), and Chile ($8.68B).

Brazil doesn't want to lose their #2 partner but I'm sure they'll survive without us.

/——/ OR they could simply lower or remove tariffs on US goods like Vietnam is doing. What a concept.

Depends on what goods you are talking about. If those goods produced inside their country are vital to their economy or independence, no. We should do the same. But just removing any and all tariffs is as dumb as blanket firing 50% of the government workers and worrying about the consequences later.

Sorry if Trump doesn't like the NAFTA 2.0 agreement he signed in 2019 but he can't expect other countries to be as stupid as Americans were back in the early 90's. Republicans did NAFTA on purpose because the poorly educated blue collar deplorables you care so much about back then were overpaid and piss poor workers. Those companies wanted to send those good paying jobs to Mexico and China. You told us it would be good for American workers. It was only good for American corporations. And so is what you are doing now.

Who are the repubs they say are worried, I'm sure there are those that are worried, but rawstory didn't mention them

This whole thing really paints the picture of what getting away from "made in america" really was. It was freedom from having to be worried that other countries might try to run all over us with things like...tariffs where when we tried to even the playing field, those countries could mess with our economy by raising their tariffs even further.

It hurts us when most of everything we have is made in other countries.

We NEED to get back to and grow our manufacturing sector. More jobs, and won't have to worry about tariffs like this.

Who are the repubs they say are worried, I'm sure there are those that are worried, but rawstory didn't mention the

Collins and Rand Paul. At least they voted against his tax breaks and cuts to social safety nets.

Collins said she voted against the full package because potential Medicaid cuts in the underlying House bill “would be very detrimental to a lot of families and disabled individuals and seniors in my state.”

And Paul questioned the math being used by his colleagues that he said would pile on the debt load.

One Republican, Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, expressed his own misgivings about tax breaks adding to the federal deficits

/—-/ Trump knows NAFTA 2.0 isn’t worry. Just because he signed it in 2019, it does mean we stick with a flawed agreement. Most normal people understand that.

Bah! Marxist propaganda.
We finally have adults who know precisely what they are doing in charge. Thank GOD.

This annoys the hell out of those leeching off the taxpayers BIG TIME.
(Same ones who don't give a shit if America burns as long as they get thrown a bone)

trump has a vision of 50"s US. You know. when we had the Shah in Iran selling us cheap crude, blacks had separate bathrooms, and government's word was golden. We will not see the return of that Era.

The tariffs are intended to induce manufacturers to return to the US, even foreign manufacturers. That will take generations and trump will be long gone, as will his tariffs. But the damage that these tariffs will do will last for decades.

trump is being told otherwise by his YES men. And he is not smart enough to figure it out himself. Rough times are ahead.

Has the thought ever crossed your mind this election was rigged and stolen?
I ask this question, because I can not fathom how many people voted for Trump knowing that he was going to do this.
Or maybe the voters are simply uneducated?
:doubt:
/——/ Don’t be an election denier. Not one prominent democrat or Harris has made that claim other than TDS hair brains here on USMB.

How stupid. It takes a few months to a year. And construction jobs begin immediately. I’ve already posted a link.

In your title you have “We made a mistake” in quotations….Who said that? Are you intentionally misleading us with mis/dis?
