we are talking macular degeneration which is a disease of the eye and of course I have it. my mom was legally blind from it and that is my great fear..blindness...I have been taking shots...vabysmo for about a year or more.
so during the hurricane/flood I noticed my eyesight was going down hill fast but getting to my doc is now a long drawn out trip and I had a standing appt already...so I am taking the eye test...I cover my left eye and cant even see the large V N on the board...panic ensues ...doc comes in and looks at my eye and goes...we have waited too long with 14 weeks , you eye disease is acting up..understand its only my right eye...it had progressed to the point I could not read the text on the TV...doc is all casual about it...not to worry just gotta get the timing of the shots right..says we will go back to 10 weeks between shots and see how that does...I take my shot about 3 pm Thursday and come home...I knew my eye was swollen going in and knew it would hurt...so home I come...I get up the next morning and turn TV on..I can see...granted still a wee bit blurry but I can see the text...the damn shot worked that fast...so if you have wet and...and they talk shot...so it...it can save your vision ...simple as that...

do not freak out at the price...it is over 6 k a shot...which takes ones breath away...and most people have it in both eyes...apparently the government has decided that paying for the shots is cheaper than having a bunch of old people going blind...i pay about 50 bucks a visit and the government picks up the rest...I pay 5 dollars for the shot itself. your clinic will enroll you in the program.

Geez, good luck with this. I read a lot and I wouldn`t know what I would do if I ever became unable to do so. When I was a crane operator in a steel mill, I gave up thousands of dollars to take a job where I could spend more hours reading rather than working.

Yes.
Wet AMD is far worse than Dry which is treatable and there are ways to slow down further sight loss considerably . For many .

The condition is associated with smoking , weight , blood pressure and family history so those over 50 should start paying attention .

I am amazed you can receive the sort of treatment you describe at negigible cost -- assume there are qualification criteria .
Hope your good fortune continues .

I have it too. I started taking shots when it was "dry" but it progressed to wet. It's in my left eye and wouldn't you know it would be my master eye so my shooting days are over unless I learn to shoot right handed. I stopped taking the shots and so far I only have a blurry spot in the center of my eye and my other eye is fine.
