Welfare….The Scam...

They still believe the populace is their slave.
The income tax theft keeps EVERYONE enslaved- Republicans use it the same way Democrats do (divide and conquer to determine tools or enemies)- they just use different rhetoric and excuses-

I don't disagree with the sentiment, or the "fix", but, welfare programs are much broader than just what's referred to-
Subsidy for Industries is one- the "Food Stamp" program is intertwined with the Farm bills- also the MIC is a jobs program, as are the alphabet agencies, including the TSA.

The Pentagon is a huge jobs program also: So, there you have it. A one-trillion-dollar war built on intentional, deliberate, and knowing lies, just like the Vietnam War was. More than 2,300 American soldiers killed for nothing. Thousands more injured, mentally, spiritually, or physically. Tens of thousands of Afghans killed, maimed, incarcerated, or tortured. The entire country destroyed.

A Pentagon Paradise Built on Lies

Tax payers *will* foot the bill for the rebuilding of that country (just like we have ALL the countries we've invaded)- a this point I don't think it can be "fixed"- but, it can be chipped away at (incrementally which is THE how we've arrived at where we are)- btw, selling arms to foreign countries won't mitigate the damage done, though it does support the MIC jobs program- the author of the above article refers to our situation as the Welfare/Warfare State- too many elected sociopaths have been elected, on BOTH sides of the aisle-
The common denominator is "lies"- how do we prevent politicians from lying? There is no instant fix. That's called instant gratification - "we have to do something" which brings unintended consequences- the elected sociopaths answer to that is to give to another, that which he didn't earn from the pockets of one who did,to appease the offended- sold with "lies" and "officially" vilifying those who manage to beat them at their own game to achieve a certain level of success deemed *too much*
So, we have those who "lie" to sell a "we have to do something" (of course in the form of a tax)- round and round it goes- where it stops nobody knows- and make no mistake, Republicans are no better than Democrats and vice versa-

"I don't disagree with the sentiment, or the "fix", but, welfare programs are much broader than just what's referred to-"

Is it a vote-buying scam or does it address the problem?
yep, vote for me and get it free is a leftist mantra.

They’ve gone international with that mantra...campaigning in Mehico, free healthcare for Mexico...etc etc

yes they do, it's why we need term limits. one shouldn't become a millionaire with our money.

1.I can’t say that Trump has a better understanding of the value of earning than the Democrats/Liberals, but there is the sense that for the Left, it is no more than a vote-buying scheme.

a. Over half a century and $22 trillion poured into the scheme, the poverty rate is but a few points lower.

b. The main result is the incentivizing of a disrespect for oneself, and for the entity that provides the welfare. As more folks in a poor neighborhood languish with little or no work, entire local culture begins to change: daily work is no longer the expected social norm. Extended periods of hanging around the neighborhood, neither working nor going to school becoming more and more socially acceptable.

Since productive activity not making any economic sense because of the work disincentives of the welfare plantation, other kinds of activities proliferate: drug and alcohol abuse, crime, recreational sex, illegitimacy, and family breakup are the new social norms, as does the culture of violence.
Peter Ferrara, “America’s Ticking Bankruptcy Bomb,” chapter five.

2. Today, under Trump, there are more job openings today than there are unemployed workers.
“The Trump administration on Wednesday released a final rule strengthening work requirements in the food stamp program.”

Let the hand-wringing begin!

3. “…first, let’s look at what the Trump administration food stamp reform would do and who it would affect. … the reform does not affect parents with minor children, the elderly, or disabled. It is limited to able-bodied adults without dependents. There are currently 3 million such people receiving food stamp benefits. The overwhelming majority have zero employment and earnings. Under the rule, some recipient able-bodied adults without dependents who have received aid for more than three months would be required to take a job; if a job is not immediately available, recipients would be required to undertake training, perform community service work, or at least look for a job.
The Truth About the New Food Stamp Work Requirements’ Effects

That's right: work for what your receive.

The 'tough love' method.

as a sane and rational lib-prog I would END WELFARE for LIFE and change it to

TEMPORARY WORK/EDUCATION ASSISTANCE

if anyone finds themselves in need of assistance they apply and if accepted they receive the following

1. entrance into program until re-inserted back into the work place
2. 4 hours a day/5 days a week education/training for job placement
3. 4 hours a day/5 days a week must perform various jobs according to necessity; clean roadways, cross walk guard, bus drivers......
4. if they already have skills then they can teach those skills to others
5. since babies and children are involved every applicant must assist in baby sitting duties while other participants work or are in training.

the intent would be to place people BACK into the work force (and OFF assistance) as quickly as possible......

Now call me a nazi.......
I think the baby sitting proposal is awesome!

If welfare recipients had to use their time
to compensate for the benefits they receive
believe me you, many people would drop out

I see no sane reason why they shouldn't have to
earn the benefits one way or another

I just posted this story again last week I believe,
I'll post it again now

End of spring/early summer this year

I was in my Walgreens one day
talking with the girl that works there
She's been there for about 3 years now, maybe longer

Anyway, we were talking and she was telling me
she was looking for a 2nd job too, knowing I have 2 jobs

Next time I saw her she told me she had an interview with UPS

Next time I saw her she got the job and would be starting

Next time I saw her she was looking forward to her check,
no complaints, work wasn't hard, flexible days/hrs...

Now, this was all within a month

My hours/days changed and I didn't see her for a couple months
When we finally saw each other again I asked her

~How's UPS going

Girl, I quit that job

~Why...what happened

Nothing happened...I was tired all the time
and they took away my SNAP benefits
when I reported the change in my income

I had to buy my own food and basically
didn't have much left...groceries are expensive

So I quit...why should I work a 2nd job
just to spend the money on groceries...
I'd rather work 1 job and keep my SNAP

~Wow

That's all I could say, wow

This is what happens when people are not allowed
to deal with the consequences of their choices
and not held accountable to responsibilities

The majority of people on food stamps are spoiled
They don't want to do what their responsibilities require
They have their hand out for their needs
so they could afford what they want and couldn't otherwise

Is it a vote-buying scam or does it address the problem?
For a sociopath the excuse is immaterial to the result- power for me to stoke my visions of grandeur and prove I am special as I have been led to believe by sycophants who become acolytes to worship at the church of godvernment.

Did you think that post made sense??? If so, you must be sitting in an Ojibwe sweat lodge, on peyote.

You'll have more success in your first job, as garden gnome.

Your post brought this to mind:

8.Newt Gingrich’s discussion about welfare reform. This, from 7 years ago…..

Newt refers to a proposal by Peter Ferrara, who was in the White House Office of Policy Development under President Ronald Reagan. The proposal goes like this: Block grants would still be provided to the states, and states would guarantee a day’s work assignment (paying the minimum wage) to everyone who reports to their local welfare office before 9:00 a.m. According to Newt, “The welfare office would provide free daycare for participants’ small children”, and the children would “receive medical care and treatment when necessary” (page 190).

Moreover, those working a certain number of hours would receive a Medicaid voucher for private health insurance as well as housing assistance so they could purchase a home. They would also receive the earned-income tax credit. Newt also affirms that the disabled would be trained for some line of work.

Based on minimum wage of $7.25, or $15,000 for a full year’s work, plus EITC, which is $3,000 with one child, and $5,000 with two, plus $1,000 per child tax credit. This plus the in-kind transfers of child care and health care, are an adequate safety net. “What I like about this proposal is that it would give welfare recipients work experience and job skills rather than setting welfare against work.” Newt Gingrich’s To Save America 7: Welfare Reform, Health Care

The system would also end all incentives for having children outside of marriage, as a parent would have to work to support a child.

9. This, from the hand-wringers when Trump announced his plan.

Headlines blared about 700,000 Americans losing access to food stamps. A Washington Post columnist wrote, “Just in time for Christmas, the Trump administration finalized the first of three new rules requiring more people to go hungry.”

… let’s look at what the Trump administration food stamp reform would do and who it would affect.

It is limited to able-bodied adults without dependents. There are currently 3 million such people receiving food stamp benefits.

… some recipient able-bodied adults without dependents who have received aid for more than three months would be required to take a job; if a job is not immediately available, recipients would be required to undertake training, perform community service work, or at least look for a job.

While the press ambiguously reports that some 700,000 recipients would “lose benefits” under the rule, it’s important to note that not a single individual will lose benefits if they perform the pro-work activities required by the program.

Again, benefits would be terminated only if the recipient earns enough to no longer need food stamps or if the recipient refuses to perform the assigned activities.”

Democrats, no doubt.

The Common Law system is a welfare system - I no longer care to address this issue, since generally speaking it's based on appeals to emotion, folk wisdom, and inconsistency, or only objecting to certain forms of "welfare" while showing ignorance to other forms, or not knowing the difference between Federal and State governments and welfare or benefits programs.

Most of it is factually erroneous, and most people are benefitting from it in someway or another, so it's just a "red button" issue like "gay marriage" which generates lots of emotional ire, dishonesty, and patent ignorance.

I made a statement, you can't address it.

The only ones consistent on this issue, at least in theory are the so-called anarchists, and in practice they aren't, since they refuse to start their own nonviolent communities because by their own admission, they wouldn't survive, or stop using services such as the internet which have received government funding since it's inception - showing that anarchy doesn't work, even if in theory, it's beautiful.

Get lost.

….and how to beat it.

One way of saying it is…..
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, but lose his soul?" -Mark 8:36”

And, a different way:
“Earned success is the secret to meaningful happiness. The government can improve your net worth with a check, but it cannot improve your self-worth.”
Jonah Goldberg

" I no longer care to address this issue, ..."

Who cares?

Get lost.

If you're under the Common Law system, you're under a "welfare system".

Here's your statement, windbag:
" I no longer care to address this issue, ..."

I addressed it:
Get lost.
You addressed it by saying "get lost" - you didn't address my points at all.

In practice, what I may try to do some day is find a documented history of all government spending from the present day, back to the day that America was founded, and see where the money has been really going this entire time (the internet itself was built in part with government funding, I know that much).

Then we'll know if, in practice, arguments such as Originalism, as beautiful as they may be in theory, are feasible, and what exactly would be required in order to pursue that ideal, and how many, in practice, are actually willing to do that.

1) get trained in an in demand field
2). Get out there and work your way up the ladder
3). Constantly seek a better job, higher pay. Be ready to give 3 days notice at any time, especially when most needed by you current employer. 3 days is more than enough notice.
4). Don't worry about having a family if it's not one of your goals. Focusing on ones career may be a better route if you wish to live more independently.

What happened to "become an entrepreneur"?

Why are so many people pissing on the American dream, and advocating college or training in a trendy field rather than entrepreneurship?

I find it a bit sad, honestly.
