Anchor Rising: Canadian Supreme Court: "Access to a Waiting List is NOT Access to Health Care"

Call it the hip that changed health-care history. When George Zeliotis of Quebec was told in 1997 that he would have to wait a year for a replacement for his painful, arthritic hip, he did what every Canadian who's been put on a waiting list does: He got mad. He got even madder when he learned it was against the law to pay for a replacement privately. But instead of heading south to a hospital in Boston or Cleveland, as many Canadians already do, he teamed up to file a lawsuit with Jacques Chaoulli, a Montreal doctor...

The court's decision strikes down a Quebec law banning private medical insurance and is bound to upend similar laws in other provinces. Canada is the only nation other than Cuba and North Korea that bans private health insurance...

"Access to a waiting list is not access to health care," wrote Chief Justice Beverly McLachlin for the 4-3 Court last week.

Well to do Canadians much prefer US private practice, The so-called “free healthcare” in Canada is by no means what it’s all cracked up to be, progressives watch far too many Hollywood movies. Lol

I've said since before he was inaugurated that Trump will usher in single payer. He's always been a Democrat.

If the Democrats win Congress in 2018, Trump and they will enact socialized medicine.

That is the whole purpose of Obamacare, bankrupt the healthcare in this country to usher in single payer. Obamacare should have never been enacted.

Interesting. "Single payer" in the form of Medicare, has existed in this country since 1966, yet the country is still here! Medicaid is also 'single payer". Also, the USA is the only industrialized nation on earth that does not have universal health care, and all those countries are still here, too. Also, interesting is the fact that manufacturing jobs have been moving out of this country for decades. Could that be partially because Ford has been paying more for employee health insurance than they have been paying for steel since 1977?

Socialized medicine would be fine if it was 100 percent voluntary, but obviously Socialism has no regard for any sort of freedom and individuality. Forcing people into shit like that is a no go

Too, bad, Trumpettes do not understand the concept of "adverse selection", which makes ny form of universal coverage impossible if on a volunteer basis. but, having spent 50 years in the business, I don't educate fools for free.
