Should not be proud of an alliance with Mitch McConnell.... He is a shameless parasite that has spent his entire career fillng his bank account at the expense of his constituency. Mitch is the consummate DC swamp creature.... He is opposed to transparency and definitely opposed to anything Elon Musk is exposing because he will be exposed with it. Praising Mitch McConnell is only an admission by whoever is doing the praising that they too want all of their dirty little secrets to stay out of the light.

Democrats heap praise on their former foe, while his GOP colleagues express disappointment.

This reminds me. Reminds of when I have made statements regarding Mitch McConnell, praising his skills. I've done the same with Justice Clarence Thomas (informed by reading of people like Jeffrey Rosen and others), and some others with whom I am politically opposed to. and or even ideologically opposed to. Give credit where it is due. Keeping any inadvertent demonization at a minimum (maybe personal attacks, but attacks on skills and results).

As many of his colleagues have swallowed their concerns about these nominees’ backgrounds or policy positions, McConnell has silently and with little fanfare voted against them — refusing to even meet with the candidates one on one before doing so.
“The Senate’s power of advice and consent is not an option; it is an obligation, and one we cannot pretend to misunderstand,” McConnell said in his statement Wednesday. “When a nominee’s record proves them unworthy of the highest public trust, and when their command of relevant policy falls short of the requirements of their office, the Senate should withhold its consent.”
I've long praised Mitch as a superb tactician as well as a superb strategist. Most successful politicians, advisors, managers, strategists, and leaders are either one or the other. Not both.
And yet Trump's people still were confirmed. So much for the great strategist......

I heap praise on him for SCOTUS. Trump got 3 picks in 4 years. That was truly superb

The money collected by the government does belong to the government.

D'Oh!
No, it belongs to WE THE PEOPLE! The government is supposed to REPRESENT us.

But they stopped doing that a long, long time ago.
