"...We are going to start slitting throats on day one,"

Both parties are on a fascist trajectory. It's just a question of who gets there first.
Nonsense.

The ‘both sides’ rhetoric is ridiculous idiocy.

There’s no Democratic version of Trump, no Democratic version of the Trump Cult – Democrats don’t try to overturn lawful elections or defend and vote for those who do.

‘Both sides’ are not ‘the same.’

Oh. And so did DeSantis....Ramaswamy is next....you think your people will be stopped? No. This is what they've been taught now and this is what they'll do. The 30% of you will love it. The rest of us will be disgusted.
Trump has only himself to blame – he’s not a ‘victim.’

Trump willfully and knowingly violated the law, consistent with his arrogance and contempt for the rule of law.

Indeed. He's a skilled, if fundamentally stupid, master of manipulation. He's set himself up to be a martyr and Democrats are cluelessly accommodating him.

True enough. So is the above statement.

In my opinion this is not accurate, though I think I can agree the nation as a whole may be moving in this direction.

Both parties embrace corporate and private capitalism, even while they are now in a remarkably profound symbiotic struggle … almost to the death.

One is now dominated by its cultish Trump / MAGA faction that is whipping itself into a frenzy, which will either triumph in the 2024 or more likely go down to defeat screaming about the need for a civil war. If Trump is rejected decisively, and his faction goes into its own death spiral, the Republican Party has a good chance to get off its present “Long March” to fascism. If not, or if they somehow come to power, all bets are off.

The Dems are different. They are now very much aware of American capitalism’s urgent and more or less imperative need to struggle internationally to maintain our country’s dominant world financial, economic & military position, and the traditional American version of neo-liberal worldwide “rule of law.” The Dems are a strongly corporatist party, controlled by corporate special interests but pandering to cultural radicals often with very strange ideas. They are not on a fascist path themselves … but nobody can say exactly where the “Brave New World” of modern capitalism is taking us all ultimately.

Of course there are very different ways to “compete” internationally. Some Republicans, still a minority, dream that a simple “America First” “transactional” relationship with competing great powers like China and Russia — or even a return to isolationism — is possible. It is not. But on the other hand, right now liberal and neo-con warmongers have been and still are in the drivers seat of U.S. foreign policy, rejecting even the blandishments of old Cold Warriors like Henry Kissinger. They have remained arrogant and determined (despite all recent failures) since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

If U.S.-style capitalism does triumph in the new Cold War against China & Russia — a big “if” but also a real possibility — the U.S. can remain more or less as in the past a rich and formally democratic country. But even then, if “American internationalism” is fake, and in the name of “freedom” we just bring death and destruction and endless proxy wars abroad, we will probably still be committing a different kind of national suicide.

The left is as given to excess and hyperbole but the overblown violence from so many voices the right is just pathetic.

He’s correct – it would be a mistake to dismiss DeSantis.

Indeed, DeSantis is as bad as Trump, if not worse – DeSantis is as much a racist and bigot as Trump, as much as a despotic authoritarian as Trump, as much of an illiberal enemy of democracy as Trump, as wrong as Trump is on the issues, and as unfit to be president as Trump.

Keep going

It won't work for you. You've burned your credibility outside your own echo chamber, which is getting smaller and smaller. Thank God.

You are an idiot. You and the rest of the morons who dream of “slitting throats” will build nothing. You and they will only destroy the Republic that the Framers built … and the precious freedoms we still have.

The Republic died the night the political class stole the election.

Now we see what comes after. You progressives are pushing real hard for a dictatorship, so go bleat somewhere else about our precious freedoms that you so desire to eliminate.

DeSantis is as much a threat to the Republic as Trump, if not more so.

DeSantis would seek to do to America what he’s done in Florida – pursue a hateful, racist, bigoted agenda hostile to citizens’ rights and expressions of individual liberty, establish illiberal, anti-democratic, authoritarian policies in an effort to undermine our democratic institutions, and embrace failed, wrongheaded conservative social, fiscal, and economic dogma to the detriment of the nation as a whole.

It would be foolish to dismiss DeSantis and the threat he poses to the American people.

No one is a bigger threat than "the big guy" and his selling out the USA to the Chinese, you twit.

If it isn't Trump, he'll be your next president.

@realDonaldTrump

Do you think Putin will be going to The Miss Universe Pageant in November in Moscow - if so, will he become my new best friend?
