I make almost $100k. It’s very possible if I lost my job I would not find another company that would pay me as well. I’d probably have to go prove I’m worth it and a lot of times companies don’t give you a raise even when you are worth it. I’ve seen my company let people go rather Than give a raise. I think most companies and employees know it’s the corporations who are in the drivers seat here.

That depends on skill set. I make over 100k a year with a 2 year degree. I could lose my job today and be working tomorrow for MORE money than I make now. I stay where I am because of the non monetary perks of the job(vacation time, being able to dictate my schedule for the most part, etc.)

I have years of great sales experience. Still took a while to find a new job that was as good as I lost. And a lot of times it sounds like a good gig but you start working and realize the company has very high turnover and they might have over promised in the interview.

Anyways, until the job I have now, none of my previous jobs were the kind of jobs that you could easily go find another job. I sold tax software. I sold b2b computer training. Not a lot of big competitors for me to go work for if it doesn’t work out there.

So I found a job selling manufacturing aftermarket. There are tons of companies with an aftermarket department. I do feel like now I would have a much easier time finding a job if I lost mine. We have like 6 major competitors all bigger than we are too so I feel like I’m in a good place right now.

One industry we wanted to protect was our auto industry. So we said toyota and Honda had to manufacture here. I don’t want Chinese to ship their cheap cars here for dirt cheap. That would kill out auto industry.
