Want ONE simple law to help curb mass-shootings?

Those gun manufacturers have no clue where the weapons they sell will go.

Of course not.......They're selling assault rifles for the target practice enjoyment of their customers.....Right?

They're such sweethearts, pure as the driven snow......aren't they?
99.999% are.
It's the .001% that makes the news

And finally--as usual--a pathological denial of reality.

What....EXACTLY....was "delusional" about that statement?

The NRA DOES get 50% (or more) of its budget from gun manufacturers -FACT

Ben Carson DOES urge victims to attack the shooter=FACT

So, again, what exactly is "delusional"?
"...and you have shown that you rather protect gun manufacturers, than defending those babies in Newtown." = NOT FACT.

" (and, according, to the illustrious Ben Carson, those 7 year old should "have rushed the gunman")"= NOT FACT.

That was easy.

The gun manufacturers had nothing to do with killing the babies at Newtown.

Guns are an inherently dangerous product that cannot be made safe in the ordinary manufacture of the product. That's why they cannot be sued unless the product fails.

No one would sue the maker of rat poison if someone uses it to kill someone. The makers of fireworks cannot be sued when someone injures another. The gas refinery can't be sued when an arsonist uses the gas to burn down his house.

and my point was and is that gun manufacturers need to share SOME of the blame for producing products whose only real (and realistic) function is to kill

And?

Perhaps we should start by fixing the mental health system, not suing gun manufacturers. Somehow you think their entire purpose in life is to be agents of wanton death and destruction. In reality they are helping save lives, supplying law enforcement and our military with the tools they need to do their job, and on top of that, giving millions of people the ability to defend themselves should the need arise.

I must stress again that we should begin by addressing mental health in America, not trying to chill the Second Amendment rights of other sane, law abiding citizens.

That's not a solution. How would being able to sue gun manufacturers stop idiots from killing people with guns?

Do you actually think they would stop and say "huh, I better not do this or Glock will be sued"?

FINE.....let's hear YOURS to curb the slaughter of babies like at Sandy Hook......
Quit being afraid to tell your loved one or coworker or friend that they need professional mental help.

Too often someone comes up , after the fact, and says "We could tell something was bothering him"

We've become scared to death of saying something that might bother someone that we can't even call Crazy by its real name

Even IF more people are MORE vigilant and turn in people for questioning and/or some closer observation that have made threats or are going through very difficult times and have weapons there is no guarantee that a very few will not slip through the cracks.

If we take away the Sandy Hook incident and the Batman killer in Colorado and others where there definitely was actionable intelligence to get authorities involved there are really very few of these occurrences. Certainly not enough of them to label the number as a lot of "carnage".

I actually agree and thank you for the sane contribution void of the same old name-calling. I used the label "carnage" mostly regarding the 21 children at Newtown who were torn apart by the barrage of bullets from that crazed-bastard, Lanza.

We would love to, but cannot rely on parents or relatives to turn in the walking time-bombs, and my point was and is that gun manufacturers need to share SOME of the blame for producing products whose only real (and realistic) function is to kill...and kill with much more of the speed and "accuracy: than a knife, a hammer, and even a handgun as some others on this thread tried to equate as "just as dangerous a weapon."

sorry...they didn't pull the trigger......you lefties are all alike....innocence means nothing to you as long as you can lash out at people you don't like, then everything is okay.......

From this post, I now hope the families not only lose but have to pay the legal fees of the innocent company they are attacking.....

they are irrational and trying to punish people who did nothing wrong......

What a fuck head you must be...

"Oh, parents....here's a casket of your 7 year old...and, yes, here's a bill for the legal fees for DARING to go after those sweethearts who made the weapon that ripped your child apart in 14 pieces................"

I am tired of the persecuting people who didn't do the crime...when a drunk driver kills a family, they don't sue Toyota...moron.

Actually, we should always follow what lobbyists push (aka, BRIBE) congress to do (and in some instance, NOT to do) when searching for legislation to curb an abuse of the common welfare and good.

Regarding mass murders, we know that gun manufacturers (and their bought puppet, the NRA) fought and won the right to NOT be sued for the misuse of their deadly products.

If we wanted to make a substantial dent with mass shootings (almost impossible to eliminate without reversing the Constitution's 2nd amendment) pass a law that gun manufacturers AND gun vendors can be sued when their product is sold WITHOUT a thorough background and psychological clean bill of health.

Sure let us be able to sue the unions when the cars that have all the defects comes into play. That way our cars in the Us will be made better and safer..

Hey we could sue the teachers unions when our kids do not get a good education..

Maybe this far left drone is on to something here..

Wait....we don't need defects to sue the unions, not according to this thread. The only thing needed to sue the unions who make a car that a drunk driver used to kill a family is the fact that they made the car....sue em....close them down....they created a murder vehicle.....

Yet you keep refusing to answer my question.

Do you want that gun manufactures to have all the personal and medical information required to make the decisions you want them to make? It's a simple yes/no question.

"Oh, parents....here's a casket of your 7 year old...and, yes, here's a bill for the legal fees for DARING to go after those sweethearts who made the weapon that ripped your child apart in 14 pieces................"

Eh, shouldn't putting the guy who ripped that little kid into 14 pieces with his Bushmaster on death row do the trick?

The easiest way to stop gun crime is to go to the voter roles, find all the democrats and disarm them...they do the majority of the gun murders in the country and kill a lot of people.......

But make sure our guys have them.....we will be out to teach those gun owners a "lesson" one day and we will need those guns.....

Sorry....I got the FBI table 8 homicide table wrong...the total gun murder rate for 2014....was only 8,124.....I put the wrong number down......

In a country with over 90 million homes with guns in them and 12.8 law abiding citizens carrying guns for self defnse.

ABSOLUTELY !!!!!

But 2 minor caveats.....

1. That info. should be up to the dealers and sellers of guns....Who, when the job gets a bit more cumbersome, would stop buying as many guns from the manufacturers.

2. I presume that by "medical" info. you mean psychological info......Not whether someone has had hemorrhoids removed......AND when you say personal info, that would depend on who the hell is drawing up that vitae......For example, were I doing the "personal" background check, NONE of you right wingers would ever get more than a BB gun.
