Walmart Says It's Raising Prices Because of Trump's Tariffs

Your computer was made in china; as was your cell phone.

Fuck off.
Fuck off yourself.

My phone is a Samsung and was made in South Korea.

My PC is an HP desktop and was probably made in China or India. The design was done in the US.

My next PC will definitely be made in not-China because Chinese crap is too expensive now.

/-----/ Not too bright on the subject, are ya?
In 2025, a significant number of states raised their minimum wages. These include Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Rhode Island. The District of Columbia also increased its minimum wage.

Here's a more detailed look at some of these states:

  • Alaska: Increased to $11.91.
  • Arizona: Increased to $14.70.
  • California: Increased to $16.50.
  • Colorado: Increased to $14.81.
  • Connecticut: Increased to $16.35.
  • Delaware: Increased to $15.00.
  • Illinois: Increased to $15.00.
  • Maine: Increased to $14.65.
  • Michigan: Increased to $12.48.
  • Minnesota: Increased to $11.13.
  • Missouri: Increased to $13.75.
  • Montana: Increased to $10.55.
  • Nebraska: Increased to $13.50.
  • New Jersey: Increased to $15.49.
  • New York: Increased to $15.50.
  • Ohio: Increased to $10.70.
  • Rhode Island: Increased to $15.00.
  • District of Columbia: Increased to $18.00.
Funny thing is, it was fine and dandy until Trump fucked it all up with the tariffs.

Walmart, the largest retailer in the nation, has announced it is raising prices because of President Donald Trump's tariffs. The retail giant said on Thursday that it may absorb some of the import taxes, but it is still raising prices to offset increased costs resulting from Trump's ill-advised trade war.

So, in other words, the tariffs are affecting prices so little on many things that Walmart is just going to eat any effects, but on the few where they must raise prices up (maybe closer to just what other non-discount retailers charge), that they figured they might as well use it to make an anti-Trump political point about it.

I just bought a Carvin power amp. Assembled in PRC. 2000 watts for 500 bucks. Best deal in town. Tariffs schmariffs.

My graphics card and motherboard were made in Taiwan .. not China… yet. My CPU was made in the USA.

I built the case myself.
The tariffs will affect the cost of DIY more than assembled systems. You'll pay tariffs on resistors but a relatively smaller tariff if they're already in computers.

Yes! Because we all know buying cheap Chinese shit is the most patriotic thing an American can do.

I fear WalMart is using tariffs as a convenient scapegoat to boost margins. Two thirds of the goods they sell are made in the US. They could easily absorb the increase of costs like they did in 2019 if they weren't so greedy now.

Not even remotely true, but ok. Walmart goods are made up of 70-80% imports
