VP Vance getting some range time in

That does look like the range at Quantico. They have a trap field there where I used to pick up 12 ga cases for reloading. There was a sgt there that saved them for me. They used win AA cases which crimped perfectly and were once fired.
Flashback

I was assigned to watch the river at Camp Lejeune while officers were qualifying on the .45 pistol. Having been in combat, I was pretty smug and thought it was all pointless playing at being Marines.

When the firing started, my mind went straight back to the rice paddies, and I almost jumped out of my boots.

Yeah, that is what I want, A VP with a needle dick that can shoot, except, with the arms he was yielding, not very impressive. I will meet him at the range for a contest anytime, anywhere. In fact, I would meet any of you gun nuts at the range of your choosing.
Sure-what can you do at 1500 yards and when will you be in South Dakota?

Hmm. I'm no expert on the military, shooting military weapons, or psychology. But I think a psychologist might wonder about a person reading in on this thread who immediately chose to talk about dicks. (Just an amateur observation here.)

If I fired a 150 grain .308 projectile out of my Springfield 03A3 loaded up to 2925 fps, I'd have to hold over 92 feet to hit a garage door-sized target at 1500 yards. And the bullet would only be traveling 980 fps by the time it got there.

I need a better gun. :laughing0301:

My uncle hasn't managed 1500 yet (longest range near home is ~900 yards), but he IS a VHA Thousand Yard Club member.

Not sure the exact load, but it's a mid-70s Remington 700 in .22-250, gets about 3900fps at the muzzle.

I wanted to get some of the .308 brass at her rifle range at Quantico, but they used match ammo, and picked it up. You used to see Carlos Hathcock at the range once in a while, they really loved him there. Now I see we have our own Carlos Halfcock, and we are honored.

There is a lot of projection coming from you

I didn't really pay attention to Winston. Anyone who brags about their marksmanship without knowing the background of the folks here really looks foolish. I've had friends take me to the range and show me how little they know.
Many of them think Rambo was 100% authentic.
There really aren't nuclear tipped arrows is seems.
Agreed

Every Marine is a rifleman and all Marines including officers are required to qualify with a rifle every year. Having said that it is doubtful that old generals with their asses molded to a Pentagon chair and political Marines ever qualified in the last decade but they get to wear the Marine expert rifle and pistol badge anyway. Maybe Vance can do something about that.
