End of an era in Russian politics: Vladimir Zhirinovsky has passed away today.

No other politician epitomises the three decades of post-Soviet Russia like him.

Weirdly symbolic that he's died in the same year as when one of his wildest predictions came true as Russia invaded Ukraine.

"the far-right group headed by militant nationalist Zhirinovsky was trouncing the other parties. Mikhail Shneider, the Russia's Choice official responsible for tracking voting tallies, kept yelling into the phone, ARE YOU SURE? With time, the results improved. But with nearly a quarter of the popular vote, Zhirinovsky was without question the symbolic winner...Soon after Zhirinovsky's victory, I witnessed actual Nazi salutes, young men goose-stepping, and red flags bearing swastika emblems at the rally for Russian National Unity...these were young, mean men, full of hate and itching to overthrow the status quo" - from the book From Cold War to Hot Peace by Michael McFaul on the 1993 Russian parliamentary elections

"Zhirinovsky was like King Lear's fool: totally deranged but often the only one allowed to speak the truth, such as when he predicted Putin extending his rule or invading Ukraine."

The Russian 'ultranationalist' politician regularly called for the mass murder of civilians, including once proposing that Russia bury nuclear waste along the Baltic states and install giant fans to blow it west.

Goodbye.

He always sounded extreme, but lately Putin became absolutely no different from him, or perhaps even more fascist.

on his deathbed, he 'joked' that Putin deserves 50 years in jail, "one year for invading Ukraine, and 49 years for failing to win the war easily"

Maybe Covid was sent by heaven to cleanse the earth of moral monsters? lol

This clown most of all resembled a stinky dog that barked loudly.

A pampered, flabby body and loud, hysterical cries of a feminist.

Somewhere there were shots where he basked with young boys in the bath.

The fucking shame of Russia

In fact, he wanted to "wash his feet in the Indian Ocean", so it's not the most "daring" thing he yapped.

He also boldly declared that the ban on masturbation is a violation of human rights.

We need to distinguish situations. Putin did not just "invade", but liberates Ukraine from terror and human trafficking. At least it's stated. This is not what imperial mongrels like Zhirinovsky had in mind.
