My family has 200 years of history in Western Maryland. The rest of the state is an embarrassment. I don't admit I'm from there. Moved to a different mountain range with the Army and never looked back.

The last time I was in Western MD (Deep Creek Lake Park) I stopped at a Mom & Pop store and they had a petition on the counter to exit MD and join either WV or PA, I don't remember which.

Must have been 15-20 years ago so I guess nothing came of it.

BTW....Just up from the entrance into DCLP I saw one of the biggest Black Bears I've seen in the wild....I'd say 650# easy....He was clawing on a telephone pole!
